How do you help your neighbors with recommending and installing cameras?

I try not to sound elitist, but the consumer color at night cameras see hardly anything at night, whereas an empiretech IR cam is far better. Even ET color at night is pretty bad without external lighting. I usually just blame myself in front of them: "I just can't keep up with the hardware and...

How do you help your neighbors with recommending and installing cameras?

I just tell people I put in professional grade stuff and can't keep up with all the consumer products. I also tell them my stuff provides superior night vision (varying grades of better), something nobody seems to even think is an option.

How do you help your neighbors with recommending and installing cameras?

Keep reiterating that you are doing it for free (or cost of materials) and tell them how much you would normally charge a customer. Tell them there is zero warranty (except maybe parts only) and you have to make a living, so you can't prioritize fixing it for free when it has an issue years down...

    Cables for less Experiance?

I've used TrueCable for probably around 7 years with zero issues. That being said, I've only used their outdoor/burial cables and not the standard indoor stuff.

Design of new system. Need help looking for problems.

Yes. With junky aerial CAT it is hard to separate the messenger from the cable jacket without it tearing the jacket. The true Cable stuff just requires you start the separation with a knife, then you pull it to the length you need. It even works well if you separate it in two directions on an...

Design of new system. Need help looking for problems.

Fiber is so cheap, just do it. You can get premade cables up to 500 meters. Use POE switches with sfp ports. By the time you buy a 500' roll of burial rated CAT6, you could probably get the right length fiber cable. If you are going to use CAT, if had better have a burial or outdoor UV...

    Natural Gas Generators

I have a soft spot for the Onan 30kw generators with the Ford 240 straight six. Propane I like the best. They are 20kw when wired single phase. Engine parts are cheap. If you find one with the older pre late 70s controls, they are all analog, and the manual diagrams tells you all the components...

    PTZ6C2M-45X-AI focus issues

Engineering only, I believe. I watched it all, and he ran some things labeled "lens" and entered a lot of things like a "xa2b 30" which I assume was changing parameters or testing things. The AI version software update isn't on the EmpireTech website. They only have the plain PTZ6C2M-45X...

    PTZ6C2M-45X-AI focus issues

Update: Andy had his engineering folks connect via teamviewer and debug the lens. In the end, the software has become a newer version, and the camera so far seems to work as it should. It focuses correctly day or night, at any zoom level. Temperature also makes no difference.

Presets are under the PTZ tab, along with Idle Motion. IVS is under the AI tab. Once you select IVS, you can procede to select which presets will have IVS enabled for them. The next page will allow you to select the presets that are active, and add IVS rules to them. Those IVS rules have an...

    PTZ6C4M-45X-AI

I should correct something I incorrectly stated. I have the 2MP version of this camera, which is PTZ6C2M-45X-AI. The user interface I expect to be exactly the same.

    PTZ6C4M-45X-AI

You need a preset. Once the preset (preset location the PTZ views) is created, go to AI -> IVS. Add a rule such as Tripwire or Intrusion, draw the lines or create an area, then select if you want it to only trigger for humans or vehicles, and turn on autotrack. You can have multiple presets...

"How to Run Ridiculously Long Ethernet Cables in Packed Conduits" : Silver Cymbal Workshop

Wire lube can be pretty important if you have an easy pull. It's not to make your pull easier -it's used to keep you from burning through existing cables. It's also good for making hard pulls easier, but if you are pulling slowly on a hard pull, you probably won't create enough heat to damage...

    PTZ6C4M-45X-AI

I'm not using the acupick side of things on my camera, but with the IVS, I make a preset, then create an IVS rule for that preset, and within the IVS rule enable AutoTrack. It seems to do a good job with detection at long distances, but right now it will detect well in 1-8x, but as soon as it...

I have the same camera and have focus issues - it is blurry 8x-28x, especially in low light. I'm supposed to have a teamviewer session with Andy's engineers soon.

From what I saw, it wasn't really any different than any other PTZ with AcuPick. https://empiretech01.com/pages/download-product-resources. Click on this: Network Camera Web5.0 User Manual V1.2.0 It will be page 186 based on the index.

    PTZ6C2M-45X-AI focus issues

I'm thinking it might be a warranty issue. No settings seem to help. The only way I could see it as a software issue is if the software is not letting the iris motor turn far enough. I'm thinking it is a hardware issue.

    PTZ6C2M-45X-AI focus issues

Initially I mounted it outside and had issues. Andy asked me to move it inside because it was better in the day when the temp was higher, so we thought it was maybe temp related. I brought it inside, clamped it to a chair, got the temp stabilized, then opened a window and looked outside so the...

    PTZ6C2M-45X-AI focus issues

I am having focus issues with my recently acquired PTZ6C2M-45X-AI. First, I've already contacted Andy about this, and he is working on it. I've sent him pictures and he is dealing with the factory folks. Second, I'm curious if anybody has had a similar issue with the same or similar camera...

Analog upgrade to IP cameras with cable length/camera distance issues

If the highwire is less than $500 for it all and you have good wires, I'd go with that. I wouldn't get Highwire at new pricing - I'd just do fiber. Sometimes you can get good pricing on fiber termination, but the all the connectors and the box at each end add up. The preterminated fiber is...

Analog upgrade to IP cameras with cable length/camera distance issues

Interesting. I have had no issues so far. I even hung one aerial about 40' with no messenger. Now, if it got caught on a sharp edge of a box or conduit, I could see it damaging the spiral shield.

Analog upgrade to IP cameras with cable length/camera distance issues

Analog upgrade to IP cameras with cable length/camera distance issues

With the cost of the highwires, you could probably do the "new camera north" with fiber for a very similar price. If I were doing it and did not have any highwires purchased, I'd also replace the 600' and 800' with fiber. You can get premade fiber on amazon. I've bought several different brands...

Analog upgrade to IP cameras with cable length/camera distance issues

I would replace the 600' & 800' coax runs with fiber, if you can. If you can't, use coax/ip converters.

Analog upgrade to IP cameras with cable length/camera distance issues

You could use ip to coax converters for pushing ip over existing coax. I think a lot of those can push a reasonable amount of power over the coax also, as long as it is copper coax. You can also push 90w from a POE injector over CAT5/6 and send it to a POE powered (called a "passthrough")...

First real world impression of Luminys

I heard from a rep that you can use their app with dahua equipment instead of DMSS and it is supposedly better. I haven't tried it. I did notice that they do have 4mp cameras with 1/1.8 sensors. The rep also said you can use their NVRs with Dahua cameras and I think the IVS comes through. It...
