    Camera placement under deck

I'm estimating the columns will be 2 feet x 2 feet. Here is a schematic drawing of the deck. I'm thinking running the wire straight through may not be the best because the stairs in front of the back right column (circled in red) will obstruct the view.

    Camera placement under deck

I have a walkout basement and a deck is being installed. One of the cameras under the deck has a column being built right at the wire exit point. The plan is to route this wire through the deck column. The column is in contact with the back of the home. I'm trying to figure out which "face" of...

    Extending outdoor ethernet cable

Assuming I use a coupler that can be used with terminated cables, does this cable make sense to use for the extension? https://www.lanshack.com/Cat-6-Outdoor-Direct-Burial-Rated-Custom-Ethernet-Patch-Cable-Made-in-USA-by-QuickTreX-P9789

    Extending outdoor ethernet cable

Thanks. Any chance you could post a link to something that would work? When searching solid copper cable, all I'm getting is long rolls of unterminated cables. I'm trying to avoid having to buy tools to terminate cables and a long roll when I really only need maybe 5-10 feet. edit: maybe...

    Extending outdoor ethernet cable

Do they make pre-terminated solid copper CAT6? I only need maybe a 5-10 foot cable. Plan would be to cut one end so I can trim excess cable to the correct length.

    Extending outdoor ethernet cable

Thanks. The cable is solid. What kind of cable would you have connected to the other end of the coupler? I'll have the solid cable that is already there connected to the coupler. Just not sure what to put on the other end. Thanks

    Extending outdoor ethernet cable

I have an ethernet cable that was going to be used for a camera installed on a brick wall. The brick wall is now going to have a brick column up against it right where the ethernet cable comes out. So now I need to extend the ethernet cable a little so it is long enough to pass through the brick...

    Mounts for 5442 ZE

Do most people use a junction box when mounting vertically on brick? I'm not sure its a great idea making a big hole in the brick to push the pigtail through.

    Mounts for 5442 ZE

Thanks. That is the one I was looking at. Would this also be for mounting on a horizontal soffit? I'm not sure if being able to push the pigtail into the house changes what I need.

    Outdoor ethernet cable questions

    1. About how long should the cable stick out of the wall? Looking at the attached picture, the cable seems too long to me. There is no way to push it in. 2. Should I be concerned if the RJ45 connector is exposed to water/humidity for a few months before camera install? Do they make some type of...

    Mounts for 5442 ZE

I'm looking to install about 10 5442 ZE outdoors. Most will be on vertical brick or wood siding. A few will be installed on horizontal wood soffit. For the vertical installs, the pigtails will be outside of the home to minimize the size of the hole in the brick. For the horizontal installs, I'm...

    Cable termination at camera end

Thanks. I was advised to terminate the cables in the basement with keystones and put them into a patch panel. Would this be best practice instead of terminating into RJ45 and using an inline keystone? The cables are already terminated with RJ45 in the basement, so I would have to cut and...

    Cable termination at camera end

I have long cable runs going from my basement to outdoor camera locations. Given these are solid (not stranded cables), is there a best method to terminate the cables at the camera end? I figure you have to use RJ45 so you can plug it into the camera. My understanding is that RJ45 is not good to...

Mounting server rack to concrete basement wall

Turned out great. Counterbore was completely necessary to otherwise the head of the concrete anchors would interfere. I also stained the wood to protect it from basement moisture.

Mounting server rack to concrete basement wall

Wow. What a great Thanks! This is so detailed and helpful. Do you think I need a washer with the tapcon? Can I just make the size of the counterbore the widest part of the screw head of tapcon? It almost looks like it has a "built in" washer.

Mounting server rack to concrete basement wall

Thanks. yes, the 1/4" tapcon at that length 2.75" is a better option. Can you explain a little more about the counterbore? Now I see that head of the anchor that attaches the wood do the cement has to be flush with the wood. If it sticks out, it will interfere with the mounting bracket that I...

Mounting server rack to concrete basement wall

Mounting server rack to concrete basement wall

Any suggestion on what size (diameter/length) tapcon screw to use? I was thinking about mounting a 2x4 where the mounting plate goes, then add a second 2x4 under the entire rack to support it from the bottom as well.

Mounting server rack to concrete basement wall

I am trying to mount a 9U Eaton Tripp Lite to a concrete basement wall. The server rack comes with a mounting plate. The instructions say each mounting hole can accommodate an M8 or 5/16” bolt. What's the best practice for mounting the server rack onto the concrete wall?
