New 5MP Starvis 2 sensor announced

And like most 5mp cameras, it is a 4:3 aspect ratio. So, you either get black space on each side when viewing or the image is cropped to fit. Either way, in my opinion, not ideal. But what do I know

    IR illuminator install

If it were just me here, I'd paint the damn downspout flat black and be done with it, but I live with the wife and the WAF on covering, painting or adding something to the downspout will likely not end well. I think my only option is to add the small deflector panels to the illuminator to help...

    IR illuminator install

It currently is mounted to the fence in a temporary fashion for testing. As I mentioned, mounting the illuminator too forward will likely create a dark spot right at the gate, right where you would want to recognize the perp. I think the only option that I can see here is right where it is...

    IR illuminator install

I wanted to revisit adding an IR illuminator to our narrow side yard, specifically placement as there is quite a bit of obstacles to deal with. With that in mind, my initial thought was to mount on the short fence panel next to the gate directly below the camera as it would be equidistant from...

    1/1.2" 8MP Varifocal

Do you have any dynamic range enabled for the 5442, the image seems too flat

    The official "WTF" thread

I would hazard a guess that they'll charge the driver with something. Auto driving feature does not engage by itself - the driver has to activate it. The driver is responsible for control of the vehicle, period. Edit: seems he told the responding police that he did in fact have the auto driving...

    RF Detector?

What do you mean? As I mentioned, I live with my wife who has no clue how to even view the cameras and is normally at work when the issues happen. I work from home so I'm here all day except for an hour of morning errands. And the office where the equipment is located has a keyed entry device...

    RF Detector?

Only the HDMI port to the monitor and the cameras. I've been disconnecting the mouse when not in use thinking it may be accidentally clicked

    RF Detector?

I did not run a test after running the test above with the NVR connected to the internet. I then disconnected the NVR and less than 24 hours later, I had 2 issues with the screen on channel 1 camera. I have NOT connected the NVR to the net since running the test. What is concerning is that the...

    RF Detector?

Update 2 hours ago: Again, I turned on the monitor, and it was on channel 1 cam instead of the camera overview screen. So, I decided to check the log - it was cleared. Interesting. I rebooted the NVR and viewed the log. This time it showed all the events associated with the reboot of the NVR...

    RF Detector?

Well, not even 24 hours after I connected the NVR to test and disconnected it, I came home from running errands this morning at 10 am, turned on the monitor and it was displaying channel 1 instead of the camera overview screen. Something is definitely up with this NVR

Recommendation for a camera with great night view

I would guess at that distance, you'll probably need something with a decent zoom to get an identifiable image. The B54IR-Z4E or B52IR-Z12E would be the likely candidates. The B54 should have good identity (with good lighting) for roughly 60 feet and the B52IR would be good for 100 feet

NVR Compatible with Lorex E892DD cameras?

I've had Lorex as well and I can tell you once you start connecting all those cams, you'll use up the limited bandwidth pretty quickly. Performance can be dismal the more cameras you add.
