    Mini-Review - 5442-ZE-S3 AKA T54IR-ZE-S3 - Replacement to 5442-ZE

The clear next step is 5482 with 1/1.2" sensor. Come on , Dahua.

Dahua NVR constantly sending large amounts of data to their servers?

Purple is great. I got the Gold+ because of the 2.5GB backbone I have...that was the only reason.

Dahua NVR constantly sending large amounts of data to their servers?

I LOVE it! I saw you have Firewalla too. I had an Omada ER707-M2 before but switched to a Gold Plus a few months ago...what a difference! The ability to build VLANs and rules...WAY easier and more effective. Even the ability to show you that image is way better/easier than anything Omada has.

Dahua NVR constantly sending large amounts of data to their servers?

I have the latest 5xxAI NVR with seven 5442 S3 cameras with P2P enabled and use DMSS. Over the last 24 hours, I see no upload or download amounts in excess of 1MB to or from any destination cumulatively.

    EmpireTech NV41AI-8P-4KH or NVR8CH-AI

I went with the 5-series NVR and I’m happy with it. Now that the Dahua cameras have animal detection, there’s no reason for me to go with something like BI.

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

That's a good comparison. Indeed, even in IR mode, the 5442 is crisper.

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

This is the way I look at it, and I'm only talking about my specific needs here. For nighttime, I'm primarily concerned about alerts on human behavior (plus animals for fun). I fully expect I won't see their faces clearly to identify them, but more to know they were trespassing and seeing what...

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Let's talk about nighttime performance. If the camera goes to IR anyway, what's the advantage of the 5442?

I'm thinking about it. Maybe if @EMPIRETECANDY gave me a deal? ;)

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

I installed seven 5442 S3s over a year ago around the perimeter around my house, and now I'm wondering if I should've gone with the 5482s. My cameras are primarily "overview" cameras to detect humans or animals. I feel like the extra MPs would allow me to better make out faces, vehicles, etc...

    What a shame

Found this on the ground at my son’s high school. Who would discard such a beauty? My wife didn’t understand why I cared, but I know you guys would. Looks like Johnny 5

Empiretech NVR - Link Quality = Poor

I have the latest firmware on the Empiretech NVR8CH-8P-2AI. There's a screen under Camera Settings called PoE and it shows all seven of my cameras have "poor" link quality. Not sure why since I have Cat 6 PoE running to each camera with nothing more than a 50ft run, and I haven't had any...

    S3 animal detection

Use Intrusions for animals. It works well and I get notifications to DMSS.

    S3 animal detection

I suspect this could be the case. When I had Acupick on, it's detection capability was inferior.

Landscape Lighting Creating Glare on Cams

    Great ideas. Thank you.

Landscape Lighting Creating Glare on Cams

Here’s a sample pic of my two front cameras. The left camera has a light on the right you can see but a light on the left you can’t see. It’s the light on the left that’s likely causing the halo. The right camera has a light below it on the right. Both cameras sit under an eave of bay windows...

Landscape Lighting Creating Glare on Cams

I have the latest 5442 S3 cameras. I had landscape lighting installed that shoots up the house and creates a strong halo on two of my cameras. I've narrowed the beam and positioned the lights to the side of the cameras, but it still creates a bad halo. I realize this may be a long shot, but...

Acupick 2.0 Enabled; lots of false positives

I bet Acupick is further more valuable if you have PTZ and ANPR cams. Clearer, close up pics.

Acupick 2.0 Enabled; lots of false positives

What I don’t understand is what Acupick really gets you. Can’t we enable IVS and Metadata manually without it?

Acupick 2.0 Enabled; lots of false positives

Understood. That’s what I meant with my previous comment. I redrew those target areas to exclude certain things that trigger unwanted activity.

Acupick 2.0 Enabled; lots of false positives

Ah ok. Now I get it. I've tailored the new rule drawings across human, vehicle and non-vehicle now. Thanks.

Acupick 2.0 Enabled; lots of false positives

I have the latest 5442 S3 cams and AI NVR from Empiretech. I used to just have IVS enabled with tripwire (human activity) and intrusions (animal activity); no vehicles or non-vehicles. I just enabled Acupick 2.0 to take advantage of the search features, experience database, auto learning, etc...

    AI Cameras for Community Security

I've enabled Acupick 2.0 and now have the metadata enabled, but how do I mark an image as a false positive? For example, a tree being tagged as a human. Edit: Nevermind. I figured out how to add content to the Experience Database so it'll learn.

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Got it. I'm going to see if I can get to where I need to be with just the Sensitivity setting, and then address the target size if needed. Is that true if both Appear and Cross are checked?

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I haven't played with the minimum target size setting. My concern is that making it larger will omit humans far away who appear smaller...is that a concern or does Dahua account for that?

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I have IVS Tripwire set to Human (audible alert to DMSS app at night) and IVS Intrusion set to Animal (no audible alert to DMSS). I've noticed that the Tripwire alert gets tripped sometimes by animals and sends me an audible alert to my phone in the middle of the night. I have Sensitivity set...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

NVR fw works great so far. Animal detection now baked in the IVS rules just like with the camera.
