Issue connecting to cameras without a router

No, I did not say this. Cameras are connected to POE switch by wire.

Issue connecting to cameras without a router

It's still the same setup you posted above: Cameras are connected to a POE switch via Ethernet cable. Switch connected to BI machine with Ethernet cable. BI machine connected to the router wirelessly. This setup used to work until I changed my ISP and router.

Issue connecting to cameras without a router

Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, the POE switch is connected to the BI computer via Ethernet cable and the BI computer is connected to the router via a wireless adapter.

Issue connecting to cameras without a router

No, I did not connect anything to the new router when I swapped it in. All my devices are wireless. So, the router is just connected to the modem. As for the POE switch. Those cables did not change (camera cables coming into it and one cable coming from it to the PC). The only time I connected...

Issue connecting to cameras without a router

My point is that this system used to work without connecting the router to EITHER the POE switch or BI computer. But not any more.

Issue connecting to cameras without a router

I had an offline, wired setup in which IP cameras connect to a POE switch, which then connects to a PC running Blue Iris. All cameras and the PC have static IPs. I used to be able to access the cameras in this setup without the need to connect the switch to the router (I don't want the system to...

    Burying ethernet cable outdoors

I am considering buying the below cable to connect our backyard camera to the POE switch in the basement...

    POE switch issue?

I used the 568B standard consistently in all my crimpings. It was not like I was arranging the wire colors in the connectors randomly. The only crimps that may have used other standards are the ones that came attached to the cables. I did not check their standard since I was not even aware that...

    POE switch issue?

Thank you. But this does not justify how restarting the switch will fix the problem.

    POE switch issue?

Thank you. This is really eye-opening. Now that I Googled it, I believe that I used 568B. Yes, the wires are stranded. Here's a pic of my crimping: These cables came with crimps to their ends and some of those crimps are used in the system. I never checked to see if they are 568B or 568A. I may...

    POE switch issue?

Assuming that the culprit is actually low-quality wires, what could theoretically explain that the problem can go away for months by simply restarting the switch or replugging the cable? I don't know if this makes any sense or not but having to deal with this for several years now, I almost feel...

    POE switch issue?

Thank you. I have not tried pinging the cameras yet, but, no, when the signal is lost, it's also lost in the cameras' apps.

    POE switch issue?

Thank you very much, Fenderman. This is the cable I used. Admittedly, it does not look super high quality and was very inexpensive compared to the competition. So, if I want to test a better cable, would I be right to say that I mostly need to upgrade the cable between the switch and the PC...

    POE switch issue?

Hello. I have this simple offline Blue Iris setup: The POE switch is this: RJ45 Cat6 cables were used. Cameras are connected to ports 1-5 (the switch is in the basement and two cameras in the front and backyards are each about 100 ft and the other 3 cameras are each about 30-50 ft away from...

    Different port types are confusing

I am setting up a bunch of Reolink and AmCrest cameras with my Blue Iris. I've set unique static IPs for the cameras. However, all these port numbers confuse me. In Blue Iris, I see two mentions of ports when setting up the camera (under the "video" tab): 1) Media/Video/RTSP port, and 2)...
