Maybe sun exposure or you had a bad lens from the start. Mine is protected by a large awning has always been quite clear both day and night. I have an IP cam facing it too with IR on, and the IR light appears as a bright spot, but doesn't wash out the image or cause reflections. -

I know this is an old post but just want to followup that you CAN disable the mechanical chime on the fly with the api by setting enable = false AND type = 0. I had an issue with the doorbell resetting itself when ringing my chime, so I just disabled it and use a Z-wave chime now. You could also...
