GDay @johnfitz The NVR model is definately correct, I believe it can have upto 16 cameras connected, but only has 8 PoE built-in ports. I never got around to putting more than 8 cameras. ok, just saw your edit ...thanks I'm going to try setting up DNS on the router, but unsure if it will carry through as its being used as an access point only in WAN bypass mode. (all DHCP done by Netcomm Modem)- geek7899

Are you saying that if I run a VPN server, I wouldn't need DNS ? I do understand your efforts in warning people about the pitfalls of port forwards. Setting up VPN is for another day. My modem (Netcomm NF7) doesn't support VPN tunneling, but I do have another Asus RT-AC86U router in WAN Bypass...- geek7899
