    Camera recommendations for Europe

For movement you want to be running a fast shutter anyway. A classic mistake is to obtain a "good"picture by boosting up gain and slowing shutter right down, only to get semi transparent nreognisable trailing ghosts when someone moves. The quality of your pic at night is always dictated by the...

    Nosey neighbor?

You could point it down a little to re-assure if anyoine comes around from law enforcement you're not deliberately looking at his property. Looking at your screenshots, lowering it to exclude the roof of his house would cover more of the ground in front of yours whilsts till giving you a view of...

how to block wind rumble physically - wheres mic

It doesn't affect clarity. If you'd done this you'd probably understand that. I have just cheap fur pieces on mine from Amazon (are supposed to be mini dead cats but that's questionable). There's very little difference in general pick up and it's cetainly not reduced in clarity. Part of the...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

Wish they wouldn't TIOC everything, but provided it can be switched off, not an issue other than the money might be better spent elsewhere. Looking forward to some reviews though especially vs 4kt and 541R. My biggest fear having watched their demo videos is the low light performance might not...

    Blue Iris Forums Gone?

Hi, Have the Blue Iris forums completely gone? I went to the BI website to try to find some info about BI 6.0 and it said the forums were no longer linked due to issues with spam bots and to add bbs to the forum address. I tried this, and ended up at an empty blank board with no forums /...

What PTZ to buy for a 22 acre property?

Try 2-4mp on a PTZ. Many might say 2mp for max night view. The pixel count matters much less because the optical zoom gets you in close negating the need to zoom into the picture manually for a better look & ensuring sharpness and clarity. All depends on how you set the zoom up, but many have it...

Why so apprently limited options to secure the admin account on Dahua cameras?

Wireguard built into Asus Router. Couldn't get OpenVPN to configure. It resets the key when the router is powered down.

Would a Properly Wired House for Security Cameras Increase its Value?

For that price you could probably just run armoured Cat 5. My upstairs PC Cat 5 goes external so I bought some armoured Cat 5 they use on oil rigs etc. I'd think it's more rodent resistant than the thin mesh. It's got a really thick tough coating around a wire wound outer consisting of...

Would a Properly Wired House for Security Cameras Increase its Value?

In the UK I'd say no. However, it may increase the saleability of your home as it's another plus point and differentiating factor from other homes. People are not blind tot he fact it would cost a lot of money and disruption to wire LAN networks into a house at a later date. Some recent estate...

Why so apprently limited options to secure the admin account on Dahua cameras?

Yep exactly what I do. Only downside to a VPN is I've found if the router reboots, it changes the key, so you cannot remote in until you retreive the new key from your router locally and enter the new key on your mobile device. However a small price to pay for security.

Why so apprently limited options to secure the admin account on Dahua cameras?

None of this would make much difference. Many Cameras have known exploits, and many of these allow hackers to circumvent the User Name / Password. Connecting any camera to the internet without a VPN is risking it being hacked and either botted, watched or bricked. eg On a Black Hat video I saw...

Blue Iris no longer respecting storage limits

Make sure as well you have maintenance set. I have my database set to repair daily. Most set it to weekly. This can also avoid many storage issues as it corrects errors on the database. Also, have you checked "C" drive for integrity? Do you have SMART Disc Health reporting set up? One...

3am TikTok Pranking Teens Get Shot, & Armed Homeowner Is Arrested In Virginia : Colion Noir

So the homeowner got charged for shooting someone seemingly breaking down his door? I'm guessing this is either a state that doesn't allow a castle style defence or maybe other factors are in play.

Maybe that's the future. A pir sensor senses someone apporaching and launches your Mavic 4 pro to investigate. In Texas, the optional gun pod takes care of the threat once identified as a threat.

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

I've seen a lot from the new Insta 360 X4 and it can produce remarkeable pictures. That said, the bit rates are much higher than you could ever use with CCTV, although increasing storage is constantly pushing back the boundaries. It's using 200mbs according to here...

    585 Starvis 2 Vs 835 Starvis 2

I've seen both these sensors on Sony's site. I really can't figure the difference. Maybe the coating works better at night in some scenarios such as those with lots of competing lights such as found on roads. It would be nice to see CCTV manufacturers push the envelope though and maybe even...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

I think the X varient has a better lens and maybe different processing due to the larger housing, or maybe I just got bad ones, Either way, mine are good in low light but disappointingly soft in the day, lack dof, useless at background capture (at least when using BLC) and lack reliability and...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

Loving the clarity. Would love to see this from CCTV. Unfortunately the bit rates are probably way too high. I'm guessing 100-200mbs making continuous 24/7 recording impracticable. I believe the camera itself has a 72mp CCD. The 72mp is either downscaled to 8K video or uses only part of the...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

Just watched this on the last page, more hope, but several things began to stand out when you got further into the video. 1. The sports field in Taiwan showed artefacts in the grass - I'm thinking again the compression doesn't like high levels of detail 2. The video from Korea and the one...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

My fears / questions looking at this are: 1. Higher numbers of led's hinting at reliance on supplemental lighting rather than improved CCD performance. I personally never want to run LED's at night due to expense & the fact they potentially wear out / go dim when run continuosly. Are the new...

    Off-Road IR light bar

My guestimate number of hours used was based on 10hrs a day average, so less than your target. As I said above, having led's running continuously for this long probably equals their realistic lifespan. Any differences in claimed lifespan maybe attribituted to lab vs real world conditions ie...

    Off-Road IR light bar

Unless it's sensor controlled, I think 1/2 the issue is the sheer number of hours you're putting on these. If you say an average of 10hrs a night year round (less in summer more in winter), then you're looking at @ 3,650 hrs a year. For your ones bought in 2020/21, that's around 3.5 yrs or...

Comparison on YT here of the new Sony IMX 585 vs the Sony IMX 676 which was previously regarded as good in low light in what appears to be near total darkness. The difference is remarkeable. Unfortunately the video is only 720P & the darkness appears extreme looking at the noise levels and...

Time to buy a body camera?

Body cameras are going to be very obvious. Only some hidden camera eg in glasses if well done will be un-noticeable. Question is why you want to record people? If it's random strangers, you'll only get yourself dragged into prosecutions as a witness if you get involved. If there's an issue...

Ukraine related: Was Ukraine Government Is Handing Out Guns To Citizens, What Happened to Gun Control?

I think the US has a point about NATO contributions - every country should be honouring it's agreement to 3%. Trump is 100% correct on that. As for other funding such as the war in Ukraine, Europe has put in twice as much as the US, it hasn't been repaid either, and anything the US is putting in...

Ukraine related: Was Ukraine Government Is Handing Out Guns To Citizens, What Happened to Gun Control?

I both do and don't see the point about NATO. Some draw comparisons with the Cuban Missile crisis in terms of provocation but there's a big difference - NATO is simply a defensive pact. Cuba was about putting nukes next to the US. I think if NATO decided to put short range nukes in Ukraine, then...
