    Alternative to 5442

Good to know. Is your stream H265 or H264?

    Alternative to 5442

Good to know thanks. I am looking at fixed lens to try to save a bit of money. Is the newer HDW5442 only available as motorised lens ("z" version)? If so what is the general opinion on HFW vs HDW for outdoor use. I will be mounting this particular one on a pole and have supplemental IR lights...

    Alternative to 5442

Hi everyone. I'd appreciate some advice please. I know the 1/1.8" CMOS in the 5442 Dahuas are favoured on the forum. From what I understand, this is primarily for their night time clarity. I am considering getting a HDW5442TM-ASE. I am after a camera that overlooks the rear of my property. 2.8mm...

    HDW5541H-AS-PV vs HDW2431TM-AS2

Interesting. Thanks again. The 5442h does look like a nice camera but yes, does seem to be more quite a bit more expensive and not as easily available. I do like the sound of that long range audio but I guess hard to say if it would suffer from wind noise just as badly as the 2431. The 5442 I...

    HDW5541H-AS-PV vs HDW2431TM-AS2

Thanks Steve. What are the real world benefits of dual mics? I didn't know they existed in ip cameras. Would potentially help with wind noise? I have considered stepping up to the 5442.

    HDW5541H-AS-PV vs HDW2431TM-AS2

Hi. Just wondering if anyone can comment on general quality differences in the image of these two cameras. I have one HDW2431 and it seems good for the money. It is an outdoor Installation and I am using Milestone Xprotect. The only minor issue I have found is wind noise in the mic and audio is...

Can't seem to get HDW2431TM-AS-S2 to fit to PFB203W wall bracket

The fact that the tab on the plastic ring has "front" written on it with an arrow gave me the impression it would only go one way.

Can't seem to get HDW2431TM-AS-S2 to fit to PFB203W wall bracket

Of course I get it now. Sorry I've only used dome cameras before. Thanks again for the help.

Can't seem to get HDW2431TM-AS-S2 to fit to PFB203W wall bracket

If there is no way around this then I'll just drill and tap three more holes I guess. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something before I do. These mounts don't seem to be very waterproof or insect proof with all of the holes and gaps when mated to the pole mount. I do have a small cover...

Can't seem to get HDW2431TM-AS-S2 to fit to PFB203W wall bracket

Thanks everyone. So Perimeter and JD dreaming are right, the ring is required it seems and lines up with the holes but still doesn't seem to allow me to mount it the way I want, it seems. I have two cameras on opposite sides of a pole. 2.8mm that overlap slightly to give a wide view at the back...

Can't seem to get HDW2431TM-AS-S2 to fit to PFB203W wall bracket

No the screws won't go into those slots because the shaft of the screws is too wide and two of the screws are too far apart to line up with the slot.

Can't seem to get HDW2431TM-AS-S2 to fit to PFB203W wall bracket

According to the Dahua website, this is the correct wall bracket for this camera, but I cannot see how any of the holes line up. The best I can seem to do is in the photo. Surely this is not right? The installation instructions just seem to show a vague picture of three screws without any detail.

Trying to add camera to BI

The camera only supports standard H264 (Dual simultaneous streams H.264, MJPEG). Codec quality options for H.264: CBR(500~8Mbps), VBR, CVBR

Trying to add camera to BI

I was trying to do direct to disk recording with H264. The cameras are a bit older now and don't support H265.

Thanks - I will do this if I get it to work ok. Yes it used the generic profile when using inspect function.

Trying to add camera to BI

Yes - I am doing that. The cameras are American Dynamics Illustra i610. I also tried manually adding profile listed for "American Dynamics" and "Ilustra" in the dropdown but neither worked. I think I can simultaneously login no problem because I can login and change settings in Cameras while...

Trying to add camera to BI

Hi. I am currently using Xprotect and am wanting to do a trial of Blue Iris. I have installed Blue Iris 5 on a separate machine to Xprotect. The separate machine is connected via ethernet to my router which is in turn connected to the POE switch that has my 3 cameras connected. The machine...

Troubleshooting poor image quality - frustrated.

Sorry, yes I did. It didn't seem to make a difference. I had it like that for a couple of days and then changed it back. I only have one ethernet port on it and also Windows doesn't seem to let you connect to connect to Wifi when a cable is plugged in so couldn't use the internet on that...

That would fit in with eveything else. Just can't track the bugger down. Behaviour is common to 3 cameras, so it has t be something in the cameras themselves or has to be from the switch back. Have run a query on the cameras (Linux) which showed CPU usage was only around 30% so don't think it is...

I tried UDP and it made a big difference to the steadiness of the FPS shown in the video overlay in the Smart Client. Went from swinging between 5 and 15 FPS (for setting of 10) to 9.8-10.2. So do you think that the fact that it appears to have trouble maintaining a steady FPS with TCP is just...

I have tried pinging each camera for extended periods via command prompt and never had lost packets. Latency (on 32 bytes) <1ms always.

    IPC-HDBW4631E-ASE poor picture

Yeah but he lives in remote Australia, probably cost half the cost of the camera to return it. Will suggest the alternative though cheers.

Thanks. Tried MJPEG a while ago. Saw the bitrate go up to 40000! Will try again and count frames per second recorded. Am using software motion detection. Was reading that UDP protocol can sometimes improve performance where choppiness and jerkiness. Am using the default TCP. Anyone have...

    IPC-HDBW4631E-ASE poor picture

Ha! He's pretty annoyed. I told him the 2MP would be better at night but he really wanted it mostly for day and went higher res thinking it would be better for distance with digital zoom.

    IPC-HDBW4631E-ASE poor picture

My brother just bought the above camera - fixed 2.8mm lens. Surprisingly bad picture once you get about 7-8m away. Good up close. Would have expected much better from 6MP. My 2MP cameras have better picture at distance. I thought that it could perhaps be improved by focusing but these seem to...

Only thing I have wondered in the past is that total power quota is 56w and user manual for cameras say each camera might need up to 23w (PoE+) but that is in cold environments to power the heater. It goes on to say that PoE is fine if temp maintains above 4degrees which it almost always is up...

Me too. Will try that and thanks for your help. Milestone support forum reckon it is the camera capabilities. Hard to swallow given that i've dropped frame rate down to half capability and still an issue. Maybe should just buy a Hikvision or Dahua turret and compare.

No router in between the cameras and the recorder - only the switch. Supposed to be a gigabit switch but not managed so can't pull any stats. TP-link gigabit network switch TL-SG1005P TL-SG1005P | 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch with 4-Port PoE | TP-Link Australia
