I'm not sure how it works where you are, but in many states I've lived in, I paid "under- and un-insured driver coverage" that was designed to cover this exact case (or in the case that someone has the bare minimum coverage and doesn't cover all the damage), and it's not considered a chargeable... -

I have cameras covering every door in the house (which consists of two sliding doors, two sets of French doors, one garage door, and three regular doors), except for one, since it's in a guest bedroom area.
