HUGE RUMOR: Unifi Protect will support ONVIF cameras (like from HIK/Dahua)

Maybe one way around this would be for CHina to offer the extra features as a firmware update thus putting reponsibility for the face recognition on the end user. TBH, I doubt it's an issue with private buyers anyway, as most private buyers don't have an extensive database of identities unlike...

humidity level and noisy image in dark lighting conditions?

I'm not noticing it either. Typically increased noise would be seen in the dark areas such as the black paving slabs, black cars, dark doorways. They all look pretty much the same to me. As Big Red said, you will see the water droplets on plants if there's humidity which may give the appearance...

Ukraine related: Was Ukraine Government Is Handing Out Guns To Citizens, What Happened to Gun Control?

I'm not sure that's exactly true in Ukraine's case. I think there's been a lot of MAGA propoganda relating to Ukraine from when Trump didn't want to fund them. Certainly some weapons have been sold on to hostile countries, which is why I personally said at the very start, no Western country...

    Trying SSD on BI

Sounds like you may have made a big mistake here. You say the UI is snappier. This suggests you have the OS / BI on the same drive as your footage. If so this is a big mistake. The drive footage is on will always wear out the fastest and by putting them all on the same drive you risk having to...

    EU follies

The US has all it's issues too and it's often run by Multi-millionaire / Billionaire presidents! In the UK that's pretty elite. The trouble in the UK is the extreme left have infiltrated everywhere - schools, hospitals, legal system etc and the';re imposing extreme left wing principles on...

    EU follies

Good Post. Socialism in the US is protrayed as some kind of communist evil when in reality in the UK / EU it's very mainstream rights for workers not communism. EU citizens look at the way the US treats the majority of it's citizens with horror eg. the fact you can be sacked for any reason such...

Just got 2 cams from Andy.. cant find playback menu in IE

No one was being condescending. If you put your ego to one side for a second then you'll realise that notifications have nothing to do with recording. They're notifications. Triggers, trigger recording. A triggered recording will take place irrespective of whether it notifies you it's doing so...

Just got 2 cams from Andy.. cant find playback menu in IE

Notifications are irrelevent. That's just what you set it to tell you. If you set it to trigger recording on motion, it will trigger recording on motion. If you're recording to an SD card which has limited memory, then it will over write anything already there. So that burglar it records when...

Just got 2 cams from Andy.. cant find playback menu in IE

Warning you will get a lot of false alerts using both motion and tripwires so expect to spend a lot of time watching trees, insects, snowflakes etc. Most of us here use Tripwires + AI to cut the false alerts even further.

Just got 2 cams from Andy.. cant find playback menu in IE

You don't need motion alerts plus tripwire. Motion detects motion .... it's prone to false alerts from swaying bushes / trees ie wind, heavy rain, snow, moving shadows, insects, birds etc. Tripwires on the other hand will only activate if something crosses a wire in the direction specified by...

How to move Blue Iris to a new PC?

PC cloning / backup software is 1 option where you can just clone your existing machine to the ewn hardware. Has to be an App that supports hardware independent installation though as you can't clone to new hardare using Apps that don't. You also need to want to back up your pc's anyway...

New plates coming to Indiana. Thoughts?

Ours pick you up for altering the spacing or using a different font, with up to a 1k fine. Depends on the force but more and more are doing it. They seem to ignore crime and go after motorists instead for every little infraction. You can barely move for speed cameras now with many being average...

New plates coming to Indiana. Thoughts?

UK has compulsory yellow on black (rear) and black on white (front). As most govn spped etc cameras work on the rear view, i seems they decided black on yellow was the best combo. Our rules are really strict though for lettering font, spacing, size, material, refelctivity etc. example UK...

Trouble Accessing Cams via Web Interface

I had issues like this a while ago after one of my cameras had gone offline and I reset it. I had to resort to connecting it direct to a laptop. I can't remember exactly how I solved it now, apart from multiple resets, but it was to do with a network address issue. Before I managed to contact...

Is ChatGPT right about IP camera settings?

Trouble with AI is in google's version at least, and in my experience on my phone, it just regurgitates the marketing blurb found on the manufacturers website. The links at the end of the text. So you're getting nothing more than an advert.

Do tripwires work at night with IR illumination?

Ah Ok. Though that was their picture but it's early. If it's working how you need it to then that's fine. My experience of trips is they're the best but placement can be crucial as you're trying to draw a 2d line in a 3d scene and objects can pass behind if you're not careful.

Do tripwires work at night with IR illumination?

The trip wires are in the foreground and people / objects are passing behind not through them. The clue here is look at the wires in relation to the tree trunks. You need to think 3 dimensionally. Where is it you want them to be tripped? If someone passes through the trees? Walks down the...

Camera thinks telephone pole is human

One solution without retraining the AI would be to simply use a privacy mask and mask the pole. It's a pole so a black rectangle is no different. You might even be able to get away with masking within the pole depending on low large it is in the picture, so a little bit of pole can be seen each...
