Here's my plan for camera system - comments/opinions/suggestions welcome

I guess I'm just old school, I like warranties, and not having to deal with people who may or may not be shady in their business practices... the guys at Nellys have been awesome, helpful, and friendly, and stand behind their stuff.

Here's my plan for camera system - comments/opinions/suggestions welcome

if you buy anything off ALI, you are guaranteed no warranty. - - - Updated - - - and there is never a guarantee of what firmware version you will get, or what language it will be hacked to. but CCTV China has been mentioned here repeatedly as a "reliable" source. I got my cameras from Nelly's...

I need one of your experts advice...

I would agree with @fenderman I have a 4th Gen i5 BI server running windows 7 pro, and its only using 49 watts of power on average according to the UPS its connected to. Your processor let alone everything else in that box will use double that almost.

DS-2CD2332-I Some Samba and Chrome Querys

you should always use a password, that could be why it can't authenticate without a password. I tried IVMS and hated it, ended up with Blue Iris, best $40 I ever spent!

    Hikvision Removable NAS

Not only that, but you can have blue iris automatically move your clips to archive or different folders around your nas based upon a schedule. I hear ya about the free factor. I was in the same boat... I tried several different freebie VMS packages, and resorted to BI... it was the best move I...

Hi Kiteboy! Welcome to the forum... a few things about your post... I too have had problems with Chrome and the WebComponents, is firefox not a viable solution for you? Secondly... avoid USB drives at all costs... they are flaky and in my experience and that of others on this site, they...

Mounting Cameras on street light in front of House

Hi Mik- Are you planning on going hardwire (my reccomendation) or WiFi (beware)? With the weather in Texas being so extreme, I'd suggest using a quality (sold copper core) outside plant cable.. I'd also suggest if you can spare the lawn, do a cable in a conduit instead of a direct burial...

    Amazon/hikvision

Bentley if you are in the US and want a warranty for a US based camera, then stop being cheap and quibbling over a $8 differential in shipping costs. Its going to cost you MUCH more than that to send a camera back to china for warranty.

Back end storage - iSCSI or NFS?

iSCSI has a *touch* lower network overhead than an NFS or SMB drive mapping. They do function the same, however if you are concerned about network bandwidth, use iSCSI... Just remember that in the long run, anything that has to leave the local machine and travel across the network, even at...

    Hikvision Removable NAS

I tried to make iVMS work, for weeks.. and to be honest it just SUCKED... I'm now using blue iris and by far its so much better and better supported! I'd strongly reccomend you look into BI instead.

Need advice on IP Camera purchase and setup

Why not just buy a cheap $99 NVR and be done with it? You can get one from NellySecurity.com, connect that to your router, and boom, problem solved. You have full storage, 24x7 recording on the NVR, and then just remotely monitor the connection. Or better yet, leave the NVR set behind your...
