    I secured a 1x6 at each location as a backing to my aluminum soffit. It was a bit of work to remove the soffit and put it back but I'm in FL and although unlikely that a hurricane would blow a camera out of the aluminum, I felt it was worth the extra time to have a secure install.

    My suggestion would be to mount camera without a junction box since you have direct access to inside the garage. Run the connector through the wall and use a Junction box inside the garage with a conduit stub up into the attic.

    I'm looking to turn off the audio selectively when saving footage from my Dahua DVR 5216-16P-4KS2E. The camera is a HDW5231R-ZE. I want to be able post footage without my neighborhood realizing there is audio on every cam. I could probably use a video editor as well but i lack all experience...

    Record 24/7, note the MD time of the issue and then go back and review the footage you recorded. Use IVS features over motion detection.

    These aren’t the best but I didn't want to melt by going out in the rain. You can see the soffit mount by the tree. The cam on the front porch sits at 7’4” from the porch and about 16” lower than L3 which is soffit mounted.

    Update: Lady was walking dogs this morning and saw me in front of the house. She stopped and turned around so i followed her back to where she lives. I now know where to leave the poop.

    I did put the video on the Nextdoor app and haven't seen the woman or the dogs since the incident. I have 3 dogs and religiously pick up after them just like any normal human being that isn't lazy. If i see her in the neighborhood, i would be happy to deliver plenty of poop back to her!

    So i went out to mow the lawn last Saturday and stepped in this. This lady had a poop bag in her hand that she could have used or at least come back and get it later.. nope!
