Camera Recommendation and Placement for Hoodies

Oh no I didn't mean hit the sensor direct I meant does it light the scene up enough to ruin the picture. Our new camera system at work doesn't play well with the boiler and fire alarms that flash like crazy when activated that's why I was wondering. But ya please share I'm curious how it'll...

Good source to buy IP items at

The OP of this thread deals direct. You can also check out Nelly's Security. Otherwise, as you'll soon find out in this thread, most other camera vendors deal with business applications only. We're small fish here compared to their usual customer base. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: A homeowner turns the tables on three armed men who broke into her home last Frid And efficiently. And it does the job pretty well. Shot my old bosses Benelli way back when at a trap shoot. Spent over $5k for it and it was smooth as butter. But personally, Ill take my Mossberg 500 with...

When is Hardware Acceleration Used in BI?

Last six years I've worked 3 different counties with 4 different stores. I've found their Interior cameras provide minimal quality. Most are PTZ that revert back to certain areas of coverage when not being actively monitored. At MOST 1080p with VERY basic recognition, skin color, clothing...

When is Hardware Acceleration Used in BI?

Most folks here are using them for home security. Not nuclear power plant security or casino/bank security employing several people to constantly monitor. Even most stores have security systems and lack 24/7 monitoring. I've taken calls from Walmart Loss Prevention reporting thefts 2-3 days...

When is Hardware Acceleration Used in BI?

What's the point then? U realize you have something missing you gonna skim thru hours and days of footage? And that's only with a few cameras, what about commercial uses where 10+ cameras are used and you want to keep track of employees, inventory, etc. Motion detection will at least provide...

What type of hard drive should I be using? WD Blue? WD Red? Something else?

Purple are the ones commonly used. Current prices on Amazon for their 4-6-8 TB's https://www.amazon.com/Purple-Surveillance-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B00P0NV43E/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1474981621&sr=8-5&keywords=wd+purple 5400 rpm helps conserve energy. They are also branded as being...

    NVR or PC Based recorder

I think it comes down to what you want it to do. Some love NVR's for the ease, others want the flexibility and options that a PC can provide with the right VMS. Saving money on an NVR can allow you to upgrade to a better route or cameras. Spending more on a PC and you may have to cut back on...

    Remote Temperature Monitoring

Look up info on Raspberry pi for home brewing. The forum I'm part of at homebrewtalk.com has tons of info on it. They go a step further with turning the fridge off/on at various times to maintain temp but a lot of the newer stuff out there allows alerts and a web interface. Its def possible...

My ladder actually has a little attachment to hold a paintbrush and I lucked out, my iPhone 7 Plus fits in it perfectly so I just attach it to the ladder and then get up on it and adjust. Like they mentioned above, just connect to the network first and you're good.

    Another License plate capture project

Just curious since I've only read a little about LPR's for residential use.. When they capture a plate, does it just store the file as a snapshot or does it add it to an Access database (or similar software program)? And are people using separate PC's/NVR's for these setups? The only LPR...
