BI with ATT 4g LTE Hotspot limited to 10 devices

Actually they are less secure, but unless your neighborhood kids are hackers this won't be your main problem.

BI with ATT 4g LTE Hotspot limited to 10 devices

Okay, but your pc will connect to this hotspot thing via wifi, right? And your pc also has an ethernet port, right? So you can run a cable from that port to a POE switch. Only the pc itself connects to the hotspot thing.

The sparsest setting is daily and keep for a month -- or 30 copies. That is dumb.

Apparently my db was off by quite a bit. And I think the dumb Windows Backup was enabled and used up some space.

    Delete: nothing to do [...]

Uh, doesn't the database keep a record of every bvr file, and doesn't the db get compacted/rebuilt/repaired/checked every 24 hours? Apparently my database was off. Also, if I delete any files from the "New" folder I then need to click the "Repair DB" button?

    Delete: nothing to do [...]

I'm going to allow 4GB free for each camera plus one extra 4GB. So what happens if I'm wrong? (Also set the allocations for all the unused folders (Aux 1-7) to 1GB)

Seems a bit vague. So we don't really know how it works?

    Delete: nothing to do [...]

So it will run right up to the limit size that was entered on the "Clips and archiving" tab and then it will delete one file (the oldest)? Or maybe whenever it creates a new file it checks to see if it is already over the limit and then will delete the oldest file?

So it will start deleting files when it gets down to... what?

Pfsense on Blue Iris PC or Separate PC?

Yeah, there seems to be a way to make it read a local file, but my BI machine is always running, so I went to the Windows options and enabled IIS and can just plop the text file into the c:\inetpub\wwwroot folder. If I add that location to the the DNSBL feeds it should be able to read that file...

Pfsense on Blue Iris PC or Separate PC?

I am now playing with pfBlockerNg DNSBL and am wondering how I could add a local Hosts file to the list of DNSBL feeds? I don't know if I can put that in the BI www folder or if I can put it on the pfSense machine? (EDIT-- I can do either)

Pfsense on Blue Iris PC or Separate PC?

Thanks for the above hint. I am slowly getting pfSense figured out. Last night I put a temporary block rule on my BI pc and am watching the firewall log as Windows 10 tries desperately to call home.

Pfsense on Blue Iris PC or Separate PC?

Decided to be cautious and use a separate old Dell Optiplex SFF for pfSense. I am trying to watch these videos on version 2.3 even though I have installed 2.4... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agieD5uiwYY

    What Would You do

When I receive the 1831E I will mount it next to my 4239TP and my cheap 1230S and record for a few days.

    What Would You do

Well, there are two factors which lead me to believe that a mix of cameras may make sense. For the backyard where there is little nighttime illumination a 2mp Dahua Starlight camera makes perfect sense, but maybe for the driveway, where you leave a light on at night, and where there also may be...

    What Would You do

But wouldn't lots of megapixels be good for daylight use? I am thinking of picking up one of these $85 4K Lorex cameras for use as my driveway camera. A few weeks ago we had a break-in at the vacant house next-door, and the primary suspect vehicle backed up right in front of my house at 7am the...

Do you max out your camera resolution?

Well, I had a strange situation occur where in the middle of the night I saw a grey cat walking on my concrete driveway, but when the cat should have appeared on a second camera it was not even visible. All you could see was a slight moving blur. Now maybe some moisture condenses on the lens or...

Do you max out your camera resolution?

In my system I have a mix of cheap 2,3 and 4mp Hik and Dahua cameras. For simplicity and for a nice looking BI display where all the images have the same size and proportions I have them all set to 1080p. This morning I had a situation where I could barely see what I wanted to see, so I am...

    Improving Garage Door Opener Security?

Oh, I see. So there are various available products which do exactly what I described? One issue I can see is that a phone app is not as easy to access as a dedicated button on a transmitter.

    Improving Garage Door Opener Security?

I was just thinking about how pathetic and obsolete garage door opener security is said to be. Also garage door openers tend to be used as-is for the life of the unit -- so whatever technology they use is always obsolete. I wonder if a much more secure scheme could be whipped up? Perhaps an...

    Driveway Sensor choices?

Okay, but I have a rather ordinary driveway and with a little effort I can dig a trench and bury a wire and avoid the headache of a wireless system.

    Driveway Sensor choices?

So which cost-effective sensors might be employed to detect vehicles entering a driveway? Thanks

    Mailbox or curbside camera?

The only protected location I can think of with a optimal view and minimal angle would be to build a new brick base for the mailbox. This might position the camera a foot off the ground and only a foot or two from the edge of the street.

    Mailbox or curbside camera?

I am hopeful that even cheaper cameras might work, but first I will need to construct a protected mailbox location, and for that job I will need some warmer weather.

BI - Blue Iris Digital IO and IoT

I have not experimented with discrete camera inputs. I suspect that they will trigger that camera, which will trigger BI, but I don't know if BI can be told that they should do more than simply triggering that camera. Overall, I am interested in integrating my "home data collection" and...
