    Hmmm. I'd have minimal worries about a metal box that mounts inside a metal case. Items with plastic construction are the problem. I had a plastic enclosed dehumidifier that was recalled because it could turn into a fireball. Someone posted a video and it was amazing.

    Well that is an interesting thought. Just what would the difference in power usage be? This was a 7010 SFF with a i7-3770 @ 3.2GHz so that is 77W. The other was an i5-9500 @ 3GHz so that is 65W. So I don't see much difference here comparing 77W to 65W.

    Oh, sorry for not being clear. Yes the connector got wet and fried, so I replaced the connector but when I tried it briefly the camera still seems to be non-functional. I'd like to know that I am not going to fry my POE switch with further testing. Is there perhaps a way to current limit POE power?

    I am in this process. I bought a short male-to-female RJ45 cable from Ebay and cut the male end off. It has the standard RJ45 colors. I seem to measure continuity between yellow and both pins 4 and 5 but everyone else says 5 is NC so I will leave it isolated.
