    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

So you're recording motion only to the SD card? I highly recommend getting a computer and running Blue Iris. Impressive software for $50.

$9.99 That might help as well. Can't tell from your photo if you're starting in both zones.

    zone crossing

I would try turning all the settings to max sensitivity then work your way up. Try extending zones A&B all the way to the top of the door as well. Also I would try adding one more 'line'(blank coverage) of spacing between the zones. Make time might need to be lower as well as movement through...

How to drill straight down through top plate?

No. But I will be installing cameras above four doors this week. Any tips?

    zone crossing

Post screen shots of your settings ( Motion sensor --->configure) (object detection) (use zones and hot spots) I wouldn't waste your time messing with this until you are bench testing or have mounted the camera in its permanent position. It looks like you're 2 ft away from the camera so if I...

How to drill straight down through top plate?

Yeah I see your point...But in this case it wouldn't have mattered. The 2x12 with a 2x4 on top of it was at 11 feet high running horizontal across the entire garage (see photo). To avoid it I would have had to mount the camera 11ft+ and then the eve would block the view.

How to drill straight down through top plate?

Checked out those drills at harbor freight. They were 5" deep so they wouldn't work. Ended up getting a right angle drill attachment for my Ridgid oscillating tool that was 3 inches deep and some 4 inch auger bits. I was able to drill parallel along the top plate at an angle. Then fed a 7"...

How to drill straight down through top plate?

I think i've come up with a solution using a right angle drill, a short bit to start the hole, then maneuver in a longer bit in the starter hole a few inches, then attach the bit to the drill...Then hopefully don't drop it down the hole when removing it.

How to drill straight down through top plate?

Looked into that. Not enough clearance the angle isn't great enough. Going to go through the outside and up with a flex bit.

How to drill straight down through top plate?

I believe I can. There are some electrical lines near by that were a cause for concern. But after looking it over and thinking it through it looks like outside and drill up is the easiest route. Off to buy more tools now..

How to drill straight down through top plate?

I'm trying to do a nice clean install with no wires running outside. Any advice on how to drill straight down through the top plate on an outside wall with about 6 inches of clearance? See photos. Options: 1. Drill at an angle and risk going through the outside wall. 2. Right angle drill with...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

So I received my HDW5231R-ZE Starlight and started bench testing it...I'm not impressed thus far. I'm hoping it needs setting adjusted or maybe a different firmware. (System VersionV2.800.0000002.0.R, Build Date: 2019-01-11) Any suggestions?

    HDW5231R-ZE and PFA137 Junction Box

Dahau's website states to use the PFA137 Junction box with the HDW5231R-ZE camera, however when reviewing the cliff notes it states there is a gap when PFA137 is used with a turret camera. Can anyone confirm I should be using PFA130 with HDW5231R-ZE If need it to be waterproof? Thanks
