    Driver’s license reader

You have a few options here. You can get a LPR camera which will capture the plates. For storage it will either: 1) Store on the SD card in the camera itself or 2) Send the information to the NVR. With either option you will be able to do searches on the information. LPR cameras there...

    Difficult lighting- gentleman’s club

I have got both the Dahua and Hikvision version and don't have the white LED's turned on. The only thing providing lighting in the area are two solar accent lights (about 10 lumens each) and the neighbor's porch light across the street (about 150 feet away) and the image is very good.

    Difficult lighting- gentleman’s club

They have cameras that have bigger sensors to absorb more light with super low lux ratings. These don't have IR lights but have built in white LED's which can be disabled in the settings. They will be in color 24/7. Examples would be the Hikvision ColorVu and the Dahua Nightcolor lines.

Is DS-7732NXI-I4/4S a good DVR choice?

There shouldn't be a difference between the two as far as noise level. Both 76 and 77 will be same. DS-7616NI-I2 is the model that is the most popular when it comes to Hikvision NVR's in the USA. I haven't seen any issues on this series. (76-"I" Series) It has a good combination as far as...

    4K video question

Both ways will give you the 4K stream if you are playing the "main stream". The "sub stream" will be the lower quality stream. The screen resolution scenario still applies in this case. For transferring the video.... Depending on the length of the video.... best to do the save onto the...

Is DS-7732NXI-I4/4S a good DVR choice?

That model is an Acusense which has a basic AI on it to detect human and vehicles to lessen false alarms. Since it is the "77" series then it will have four SATA ports instead of two SATA with the "76" series. The AI can be used with four regular cameras. If you want AI on cameras after the...

    4K video question

If you went into the camera settings of either the NVR or camera and set it to 4K (8MP) then it will be recording in that resolution. If your monitor/TV that you are trying to view the video is not 4K then you will not see the full resolution. Trying to view 4K video on 1080P TV will only show...

Hikvision turret cameras lost password tried to reset but not working.

Most is not all of the newer cameras will have a reset button on it. Use the 30-30-30 method. 30 seconds holding the button down....Unplug power while holding button down for 30 seconds.... Plug power back in while pushing button. Then release the button and it will reset itself to factory...

    Hikvision Acusense 8MP motion blur

There would be a few items I would check. Go into the camera settings. 1) Is it on CBR or VBR? Either one is okay. Mine is set to VBR. Make sure the max bitrate is high enough. 2) What is the Max Bitrate? Having this too low will cause issues depending on if it is set to H264/H265. 3)...

    4K video question

There are two ways to get the video recording. One would be to put an SD card in the camera. With that then you can set it to record to the card and then use the IVMS4200 to view the video. Viewing the video can also be accessed by using a web browser to log into the camera and then go to...

    ColorVu, basic guidance needed

Yes. If you have an Acusense NVR then you can have four channels with regular cameras and the NVR will supply the processing of the AI features for them. It doesn't matter if you get the 8CH/16CH/32Ch.... You still just get 4 channels of NVR processed AI. After that (fifth camera and up)...

Kids Throw a Cheese Stick at my Car (not my car)

Good thing it was just a cheese stick. I had a similar experience. I was driving with the sunroof open and the kids in the bus were trying to see who could spit and have it go through the sunroof. I didn't notice till I saw spit on my front windshield and thinking to myself that it definitely...

    ColorVu, basic guidance needed

You will have no issues doing the things you want with the ColorVu. Put the SD card inside for the recording. Power up the camera with a POE switch or injector and put it on your network. Then activate the camera and give it an IP address. Under network settings you will see the option for...

Alternative way of recovering HikVision NVR password

If you would like, I can see if I can help on this. Export the XML file using SADP and send it to me. I will get you a file to import back in. Do keep in mind that after you export the file that you DO NOT turn off the DVR. If it is turned off then the XML that was exported will not be good...

Thoughts on new DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 4MP PTZ?

This unit doesn't have pattern, patrol or smart tracking so not going to be able to program a scene. You can do presets but won't be able to have it do anything automatically. Just select the preset manually and it goes to that position. Park position works though for when you are playing...

    Can anyone identify this car?

Definitely an Altima and not the Sentra. The headlights on the Altima are projectors. Sentra has the reflectors. The camera pictures certainly have the projectors.

    Hik-Connect for Android

Supposedly Hik-Connect is not able to be downloaded from the Google app store anymore so it needs to be installed another way. Make sure the "sharing" was done properly. So on the first phone you click on the bottom right and then you will see "Manage Share Settings". Click on the "+" and...

LTS (rebranded Hik) NVR not Working w/ DHCP

3.4.96 will still require plugins. GUI 4.0 will use plug in also unless you have a firmware 4.1.65 and up. That firmware and any after that will have support for other browsers since it is not using the NPAPI. You can always use the client software. That may be easier if trying to liveview...

LTS (rebranded Hik) NVR not Working w/ DHCP

The issue is with the firmware. GUI 4.0 has bugs that includes issues with POE overload, freezing, rebooting and no resources. The fix for it is to downgrade the firmware to the 3.4.96 build 180912. After downgrading then make sure the unit is defaulted and start from scratch.

DS-9664NI-I8 Unsupported Stream Type when viewing >4 streams

Usually when viewing more camera's at once then it will be showing as "substream". When bringing up full screen then it will be in "mainstream". Substream will usually be at a lower resolution. The next thing to double check would be the encoding type. Having it on H265 or H265+ will save on...

    CCTV NVR on solar?

Usually if you are using a mobile provider such as AT&T is that they will not let you open ports. Best thing to do is to use the cloud access on the Hikvision. That way if the IP address changes then you are still able to view your cameras because the NVR will update the IP address with the...

    CCTV NVR on solar?

Hikvision NVR itself will use around 15 watts of power. Each camera depending on which models you choose will use about 4-9 watts for the most basic camera. PTZ's will use way more. 20-60 watts depending on model. If you are streaming video then of course it will use alot of data. Each...

    IPC-HDW5442TM-AS-LED - Worth it?

I have read the reviews on this. The question being the added feature of SMD which will be implemented. This camera doesn't have it now. Camera just has the basic IVS with face detection, perimeter protection, etc but not true SMD. So this camera with SMD be a better option than the...
