Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

You're welcome, I'll update this again with some screen images once I've installed it outside. Not sure if I'll get around to installing it this weekend or not. But here are some close up images of the camera itself and the potential temperature issue I measured. The specs on the listing say...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

OK, so here is what is up with this camera, from my initial tests! First of all, obviously it looks different than Dahua cameras, but I can say I am pretty sure it isn't Dahua, the UI is something totally different. I do not have enough experience with cameras to say what else it might be if...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

I got it but haven't had a chance to actually test it yet. Looking at it I'm like wondering, does this thing even have any IR lights? I will find it that and more this weekend.

What kind of video recording system do really large buildings use?

OK so that should have been obvious but I didn't really look too close at the cameras before today. So today I took a slow walk down the hall and looked up close at the camera, and I could notice that the small little dome cameras there have an "Axis" logo. After knowing that, I am guessing...

What kind of video recording system do really large buildings use?

I didn't see any obvious branding on the cameras, but I haven't gotten too up and close to them. These commercial solutions sound interesting, probably fun to work on setting up those systems. Heck some of the security guards at the front desk are friendly, maybe I will just ask them what...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

OK, seller says it will work with Blue Iris, so I'm going to just go ahead and get one and I'll report back in a few days how it works!

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

Yeah, I've seen some decent Amcrest turret options, but they're usually 6MP or 4K and I want less resolution so I don't bog down my processor too much. Unless you can set them up to output less resolution? I'm not sure if that gives the same fidelity and performance as a native 2MP camera though?

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

Oh WOW, OK yeah... I am using Blue Iris, so if it doesn't work with that, it would be useless for me. Thanks for pointing that out, I knew an extra set of eyes on this would help! The manual focus and zoom are OK since once I get it set up that won't change, but it needs to work with my...

Anyone tried this? HDView Starlight Color Night Vision, 2.8-12mm, Sony Starvis

OK, so I'll be honest here, I was looking around to see if there was any camera with 2MP starlight with 1/2.8" sensor that was comparable to EmpireTech IPC-HDW2231R-ZS, but less expensive! I have one of the IPC-HDW2231R-ZS, and it works great, but I am looking to add two more cameras and was...

What kind of video recording system do really large buildings use?

So, I work in an office building with over 500 employees. There are 4 floors and each floor is pretty big. I can see at least 13 cameras on the ceilings of my floor hallways, so I might assume there are about that many on each other non-ground floor, and probably more on the first floor with...

Amcrest SmartHome Video Doorbell Camera AD110

WOW!!! I just set mine to digital in the Amcrest app last night and it finally triggered my MECHANICAL chime. That was not expected at all, it didn't make any sound when set to mechanical, so weird. I wonder if it has something to do with that little box I added to the mechanical chime...

Amcrest SmartHome Video Doorbell Camera AD110

I got one of these Amcrest video doorbells too, and although the video hooked up fine to thier app, and to my Blue Iris system, my mechanical doorbell does NOT chime, despire adding their little chime kit to it. Not sure why it does not make sound, haven't had time to try to trouble shoot that...

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

I have a few different cameras but the one on the backyard is the EmpireTech IPC-HDW2231R-ZS In hindsight I don't really need the varifocal lens, but it had good reviews and supposed to be great night vision and clear image. This is my first day using it so I can't really review it just yet...

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

Ok, so I decided when I go around the corner (another day) to just use bare cable (which will easily go behind the gutter) and paint it. One other thing to report... The 10' straight conduit from my attic does not seem to cause any interference in the video signal! But I'll keep it in mind to...

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

Well.... I am anoob at this so whoops! I am kinda committed to this right now. If my signal is jacked up, I'll know why! I'm going to see how it works with just the one conduit already in place, and the wire. I'll report back later.

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

Well I already had to get conduit ran in a corner to get the line from the attic to the outside. My system is upstairs and running any line between floors inside has proven very difficult (fire stops on both floors). So that is why I opted to drop it from the attic to outside. I think i looks...

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

It's not vinyl, it's Hardy plank concrete boards.

Ok, excuse me for not knowing but what is an LB in this context?

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

No, not really! However I can paint it to match the siding and that part is the back of the house. If I can figure out something for this gutter then the front of the house will only really see the camera peeking around the corner.

What to do about this gutter on a conduit run?

So, I'm installing some 3/4" EMT (metal) conduit along the back of my house (to protect the Ethernet cable going to cameras), and I want it to go around this corner so I can mount a camera junction box there to look around the side of the house. Only problem is there is a blasted gutter right in...

Video Tearing in Recorded Files in BI5 and Push to Talk Issues with Blue Iris App (Android)

OK, so I was having some really bad ghosting/tearing of moving objects on my recorded clips, and I only 3 cameras right now, CPU use less than 50% and RAM use about 2 out of 24 GB so I figured it was more of a setting problem than hardware problem. After reading this thread I thought I might...

    Just getting started

Nice install. Seeing this makes me miss having a 1 story home... my new 2 story house is nice, but almost all the eves are well over 20 feet off the ground, so not practical to install cameras in! I'm having to get creative and probably run some conduit in places to get them down to 8' off the...

Amcrest SmartHome Video Doorbell Camera AD110

OK so I bought a home that came with a Ring doorbell, the thing sucks, and worse yet, I hear the app has big privacy concerns, trackers, etc. in it! So I am going to get one of these to replace it since it is better and can work with my Blue Iris setup. My main question here is... can you...

Any reason not to just replace most cable lines with cat6?

My house has one, but the AC unit is on the second floor, and so the return from the first floor to that is basically just a big hole under the AC unit with a grill over it, so it isn't very useful for any cable runs for me.

Any reason not to just replace most cable lines with cat6?

Well, one lesson I learned is that it is POSSIBLE, although difficult, to drop a line from the attic to the first floor of a two story home. it involved cutting a large hole in the drywall and some long drill bits, but since I plan to live here for a while, I figured it was worth the effort...

Any reason not to just replace most cable lines with cat6?

So to follow up on this, this coax was clearly installed when they built the home. Not only is it stapled in some places, but it has spray foam insulation or something in the stud openings it was going into, so it isn't going anywhere easily, so I'm leaving it alone! Had to run totally new...

Noob here, what is the best B.I. v5 setup video for new system?

Thanks, I had not looked at the Help file in BI. Given what little I know, it might be useful, I'll check that out this evening.

Noob here, what is the best B.I. v5 setup video for new system?

OK, so I've spent months getting a plan together for my house, buying cameras, cable, learning to crimp to terminate the connections, getting conduit, routing lines through my attic, etc. Also bought a computer for BlueIris with Windows 10, one of the ones recommended from this board. So I got...

2nd story home, high up conduit installation advice

Thanks for the comments, yeah looking at it objectively... I am going to say this is just too high for me, unless one of my neighbors happens to have access to a lift bucket of some sort! I'm going to need two hands which isn't so good when on a ladder. So I'll leave it to the pros, but I've...
