4k PTZcamera about to fall out of the sky - help!

I solved my problem. Hired a 28 ton crane with a 115 ft reach. I must have forgotten to tighten as it took several revolutions to tighten the screws. Great view up there. Reinstalled safety cables, after reading HIK instructions.

Capturing Lightning Strikes on IP Camera

Here is an example of snapping pictures during a lightning storm. One catching the flash and one not. Captured with Axis 2 meg camera. Lots of clouds so the whole sky was lighting up . No bolts visible.

    Outdoor POE switch in Texas

My 2 cents. First, lightning is unpredictable, so I’m guessing. Your pole is lower than nearby trees. Put a ground wire up past your cameras and switch and ground rod at base. Heat is more likely to be your problem. I’d get a bigger box (without clear door) than necessary and put vents in...

    Outdoor POE switch in Texas

Two of the cameras Hikvision 4k's are 24v ac and the A and B are the two camera feeds. Behind the switch are two 24 v power supplies and a Axis power supply (cream color) for the top camera (POE). The box is a Versa-Mount Poly carbonate Washdown Enclosure ( part # 5376K702) from McMaster-Carr...

    Outdoor POE switch in Texas

I put the my switch and 3 power supplies in a box that live 98 ft up a tower. Clear cover faces north. Thought a lot about heat issue. Ran a test for 24 hours on ground before tower up. Monitored temp. Seemed ok. Put up last November. This will be first summer. Michigan isn’t Texas...

Suggestion indoor PTZ with high resolution, good IR and good zoom

Hikvision DS-2DE7184-AE is the one I tested. My best is Hik DS-2DF8836IX-AELW , 8 meg/ 4K but pricey and near 18 lbs.

Suggestion indoor PTZ with high resolution, good IR and good zoom

I have 8 outdoor ptz cams of various brands , axis, hik,Dahua, nonames. They’re all in the 20x and 30 x range. I would point out that a high zoom , they don’t focus that close. Not a problem outdoors, but might be for you. Data should be in specifications. I just ran a test. I have one that...

    how to mount without screws?

Those dots look like holes. I'd epoxy or expansion fit a stainless nut into one of those holes( glue with the bolt in the nut so as to not plug the threads.) Then screw a aluminum plate that is the same size as your mount and with appropriate hardware , you can fasten your camera mount to the...

1st topic from a Newbie. Hope someone can help.

My front door ( motion detection) has a file of detected pictures ( or video is you want that) BI is quite tunable.

1st topic from a Newbie. Hope someone can help.

Why not switch to motion detection software, either in camera or receiver(Blue Iris running on pc) I use BI and have some cameras on motion detection and others not. BI is $50 and runs on a p. Detect the motion is real time rather than after the fact.

    Cleaning a dome camera

I’d be more afraid of getting water inside, so I’d use a hand squeeze pump with as pure water as I can get, like R/O water, or purchased distilled water. Then spray a lot to wash dirt off and wipe with soft cloth. My exposed PTZ’ s get rain washed and my under eaves domes haven’t been...

1st topic from a Newbie. Hope someone can help.

Interesting challenge. For someone who writes code for running in the NVR , maybe possible. What comes to mind, add a camera with motion detection to “ watch” your screen and capture changes. Then review its motion capture. If the screen has time -date info, you have a reference. Brute...

Drill at diagonal into 16 or 24 inch cavity/ don’t have to be perpendicular to top plate.

    Fox detection at night!

Try the 6mm, but the zoom gives you options. The deer in the 3rd picture are 60 kg animals and not big in the 40 meter away pic.

    U3 interface

Is there a way to have the web interface only show, say 4 of 12 cameras of the base BI? I want BI to see all cameras but I want to concentrate on just 4. I can hide them from BI and get the result but I want them recorded for movement at BI central. thanks, rob

Nice, Tony. I stayed away from the nest. The nest is in the tree "touching" the left camera. The eagles were away went I flew.

    Fox detection at night!

I’d suggest PTZ with at least 20x as 30 to 50 meters is a long way. Do you need to distinguish between squirrels, possums, foxes? Where are you or what are your local small animals? This is a 56 degree pict from 30 meters up a tower. Fox would be pretty small. Bottom pic has 3 deer at about...

4k PTZcamera about to fall out of the sky - help!

My drone pic didn’t add any info. I’m resolved to wait for better weather and a crane. Interesting pic from drone at 108 ft up. You can see the mic cables and my mounting system. I’ll post the carcass if it falls.!

4k PTZcamera about to fall out of the sky - help!

The cameras came with a aircraft type cable for mounting ... holding while you connect the wires. The cable has an integrated handle cause the camera is so heavy. Instructions said to remove after mounting. I will add something when I next lower the tower. The mount has a loop on the...

4k PTZcamera about to fall out of the sky - help!

It's a tilt-up tower but I had a crane help pull up the LT 600 lb total weight. Current weather restricts access. If camera stays put, I can use a crane in the spring.

4k PTZcamera about to fall out of the sky - help!

One of two identical cameras DS-2DF8836IX-AELW is now loose. They were mounted on the tower when it was horizontal ( then tilted up) I can only think that because of the weight (18 lbs) that I tightened the screw against a lip of the mount and not in the channel...Or I failed to tightened it...

Can Hikvision cams be commanded with touch screen?

I have 3 PTZ Axis cameras connected to Axis Companion and they work great. The ability to have the PTZ center on your finger touch point is very very handy. And to change magnification with 2 finger open or close is also great. I have Hikvision PTZ's that I have trouble moving in a hurry and...

Any tips to waterproof wires when pole mounting?

I found that using the wall mount with fabricated box worked best for me. And the wires go down the inside of pipe. The brown one is just 20 ft on black pipe. But I weld aluminum. Maybe a well painted wood box would work. The other pic is 100 ft up and the wires are external until they go...

    Line-In for MIC on Hikvision

After looking up those plug definitions, I’d use what matches your microphone. That’s what I did. It came with an RCA line out.
