    Security of NVR & Network

Curious on their own isolated network that do not touch router or Internet an o you access remotely at all so? Or use a VPN. I'm guessing no. Also I've considered isolated network but , one common use case is wife wants to access cameras via tinycam on phone and not have to switch on a VPN to...

    Security of NVR & Network

I was reading that criminals have started to cut Ethernet cables when robbing a house, this also got me thinking, what's stopping them cutting cable and finding NVR and destroying it. Do people hide their NVRs and even so the more you try to hide it the more obvious it becomes. What are other...

    still haven't found what I'm looking for . .

And they have been out of stock for long time. In UK they are marked end of life so amcrest probably arent making them anymore. People here recommend them often when require of PoE indoor baby cameras come up. But they are not an option- they cannot be bought. So I was wondering what is...

    still haven't found what I'm looking for . .

Had a couple of annke indoor cams (hik clones) , still working flawless wanted to add a 3rd indoor camera but struggling to find anything. Wanted something with PoE ( pan and tilt ideally) . Everyone seems to recommend the amcrest one , but I'd be dammed if I can find it in PoE anywhere...

Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Hikvision IP camera/NVR firmware (CVE-2021-36260)

Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in Hikvision IP camera/NVR firmware (CVE-2021-36260)

Have few Annke I61DR Cubes running V5.4.5 build 170123 , looks like they are not affected by this when search the Hik link above . I'm guessing as these cameras are quite old there is no updated firmware released for them ?

    VLAN vs Dual Nic

What's the purpose of the primary switch here - is it just for expansion or other household devices? The Asus router I would imagine have 4 ports on board , so the BI PC could connect directly to that ?

    VLAN vs Dual Nic

Do you have a ubiquiti router and have the cams, BI Pc in one VLAN with the other home devices in another VLAN or how do you have your set up?

    VLAN vs Dual Nic

@TL1096r you seem to be at similar position to me , @catcamstar advice on Asus has prob saved me time messing around trying to get it set up with VLANs. Very helpful

    VLAN vs Dual Nic

Thanks , The thing that slightly bothers me on dual Nic is the CAMs are so dependant on the PC itself. But same could be argued about the switch and other components as you rightly say and the blue Iris PC is doing recording so it should be set up with UPS and made reliable either way I guess...

    VLAN vs Dual Nic

So have been reading the cliff notes and playing around with blue Iris on dual Nic machine , also setting up remote access via Open VPN on an Asus router. One thing is not very clear to me and that is the pros and cons of vlan on switch for blue Iris or just use dual Nic. I used to be CCNA...

Double NAT - working but secure ?

Thanks , I have a blank gateway on the HiKs camera's NICs. The 10.x address is coming I guess as the VPN is in TUN mode and is routing between the VPN LAN and the local LAN. How do you block the cams in firewall having internet access yet not have to go toggle the access rule off each time...

Double NAT - working but secure ?

Thanks Ya I was thinking it's same as having a public IP on WAN side anyway. I'll run some speed tests , traceroutes were hopping quite slow. Didn't try it with camera , I couldn't access the cameras at all for some reason.Couldnt even ping them. I turned off a bunch of stuff on the HiK...

Double NAT - working but secure ?

Hi So I went about trying to enable VPN on my router today. First issue detected was that my WAN IP was private. My router connects to an antenna which the ISP controls , so I guessed they are doing a NAT on their side and giving me back a private address. Rang them up and they said their...

    Doorbird Camera - horribble quality

Ya I'll keep an eye on doorbird I think for their product launch. Guessing it would be later in the year. Complaints I see on ring are by the time the chime kicks in the user has turned their back , perhaps it was older firmware. Difficult to tell if bad reviews were on older firmware and...

    Doorbird Camera - horribble quality

Was it just the quality was issue with doorbird?. I was chatting to another user who has it heavily integrated with home assistant and loves it. I'm thinking of waiting for the new 1080 PoE version to hit market. The reviews for ring Elite on Amazon are pretty scathing where complaints of lag...

ANNKE I61DR 2MP (Hikvision Cube Clone)

Really strange stuff. The live display worked using ONVIFER app which then somehow kick-started all the other apps and now they are displaying live video over any protocol I selected. I switched back off upnp, disbaled hik platform service. Switched off all internet access and then switched on...

ANNKE I61DR 2MP (Hikvision Cube Clone)

Have reset the password 3 times and device. Changed the IP twice and set up alternative user password. The browser works fine - I established that earlier this morning and know it works. What I want is to use the Camera with an App which doesn't work. Create a SPAN port on Lan with layer 3...
