    Well I'd love to do the initial plan. But it sounds like my friend outside my network would need to login to my VPN and can't just access a URL with user/password in the URL string. Hence I guess Twitch is Plan B. But I prefer the URL idea, without opening ports.

    So... I set up a Twitch account. I have the stream URL (rtmp:/jfk.contribute.live-video.net/app/ SECRET KEY) and I put that into Webcast settings in BI. Added my username and password. Still no luck seeing a stream. Help?

    I already have a VPN set up. But I would prefer for them not to have to log into Blue Iris or to the VPN to see the WebCam. I thought there would be just a simple URL with a username and password they could use so that they could see the WebCam on their browser.

    Without using Webcam settings, since I have a permanent host name ("keep alive"), e.g., hostexample.ddns.net that maps to my Comcast IP address, how can I access the UI3 and/or a specific camera? Of course with a username + password as well. Not sure what the URL would be in that case. Thanks!!!

    UPNP keeps disappearing

    So here's a maybe downside to VPN (?). I have the BI app on my iPhone and I have BI alerts set up to send me a phone notification when motion triggered. Works fine at home. But unless I VPN everytime when I'm away, I won't get those alerts, right? Anyway around this? Thanks in advance.

    Yes. When I use the DDNS host name, it wants to log me into the router. I was trying the Open VPN Connect app on iPhone from the App Store. EDIT: To be clear, I turned on Router remote management temporarily to try accessing it from a computer outside my home network.

    Let me go back to port forwarding for a second. If I port forward Blue Iris using a relatively unique external port (so presumably no other app on my PC at that IP is using that port), and Blue Iris has a username / password AND key, how can someone realistically hack me? I'm not (I think?)...

    I must be doing something wrong b/c I can't see myself on canyouseeme using port 443. EDIT: I changed external port to 443 and internal to 81, and you I can see myself on canyouseeme.org. However, still no luck with iPhone.
