Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-AS-S3 2.8mm turret fixed lens

Yeah we really need this and if possible vs 4kt. IR is ok but B&W really has a negative effect on identification. Colour makes such a difference if it's possible to run it at high shutters with only a little additional light. ie 300-400 lumens.

    Burglary Tourism?!?

Repeat offences all too common. In the UK shoplifting currently goes all but unpunished. Without threats, the Police usually won't attend. They walk in, staff challenge, they say you can't touch me, staff watch as they take as much as they like, they walk out. I've heard of burglaries where they...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Many use just tripwires. I use 2 trip wire rules simply to allow me to draw more wires. You also need to consider direction with trip wires as they're directional. The function of CPAI is fitration not detection. The cameras software uses one of the trips, motion etc options or BI motion (one...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

4kT seems to have faded into the background a bit. Good camera at it's most basic, but several issues - shallow dof and processor / memory? appear to be underpowered for the functions it has. I think for these reasons many have turned their attentions back to the 5442 / 541R series S3's. As...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Anyone with one of these and a 4kt who might do a side by side colour night comparison? I'm interested to see how the 4kt and the 2 versions of this stack up at night time low light colour.

New: These look interesting - HDW3449H-AS-PV-PRO

My experience of the 4kt is it's good camera but the dof drops off rapidly before and after the focal point. As an aside, it also suffers badly from compression away from the focal point in the background. I have to wonder here if this is something to do with the firmware. Could it be reducing...

New: These look interesting - HDW3449H-AS-PV-PRO

With that Alekk you'll have no depth of field. That's been something some don't like with the 4kt and the cause is most probably the aperture size. The larger the sensor, the shallower the dof. Add in a wide aperture and you get a very shallow area thats in focus. Larger sensors are great but...

CodeProject.ai with License Plate Reader module - HowTo?

An enlargement of the plate is going to look granular because you're enlarging just a small part of the picture. Effectively you're digital zooming for which the tehnical explanation is you're reducing the pixel density and thus the definition as there are less pixels per square inch. Try...

    I like this PTZ.. HikVision - DS-2DF8C260I5XG-ELW 1/1.2" progressive scan CMOS @ 2mp.

There is more than 1 reason why you can stutter as well. It can be the video bit rate if too high for the device it's being written to. It can be the shutter speed if too fast with movement (unlikely here with 1/60th) as moving objects can move a visible distance between frames. It could be the...

Thanks for the settings. They explain a lot about the picture. Although you seem to be getting away with a good picture at night, generally the recommendation is not to exceed 50 on gain (gain increases noise). This may explain the presence of aretfacts in the night time picture which make it...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Whats the full colour performance like at night? Do you have a 4kt to compare it to? The one thing I really like about these cameras is the depth of field. The 4Kt appears as if it lowers the bit rate away from the focal point. It looks to me almost as if it's like the trick now used by some...

What are the gain and shutter set at to achieve that brightness? It looks to me as though gain maybe high and shutter quite slow as there's a bit of a blur to the picture on movement and the image has visible artefacts especially under movement (not saying they're bad but they're there).

    Dahua NA is no more

Wonder if they'll be rebadged Dahua cameras built outside China or if this is simply a sale of goodwill / sales outlets with Luminys producing their own camera models. Also wonder how pricing will be afffected for the US. WIll this become a premium brand due to the extra costs of the rules?

New BI User, call me Overwhelmed

Unfortunately the guy who produces BI is a one man band. I agree it can be hard with so many settings especially if you've never set up any cameras before and have little or no networking experience. What it really wants is a manual with every UI page in BI exploded with numbered descriptions of...

Can you only draw a single straight line? In Dahua you can draw zig zags (you have to do it continuously though) . For most in Dahua 1 to 2 rules is all thats needed because you can draw a lot of lines with zig zagging in 1 go.

Man With Mask / RFID Cloning?

It's hard to tell. I understand it's a dedicated scanning device. I wasn't aware it cna be done on a mobile phone, although I'm not saying it can't. I do think masks should be banned in public though unless under a pandemic direction. If nothing else, anyone untoward would get picked up simply...

How many vehicles just don't have plates?

The US needs to update how it levies Tax. 1/2 the issue seems of missing plates to be because your plates are an indicator of whether you paid road tax or not and so changed / removed constantly. In the UK plates are for identification purposes only and never expire or are remove from the...

How many vehicles just don't have plates?

US PD letting you down. Over here, this is practically impossible (cloned plates another matter) but in the UK you wouldn't get far without getting pulled for no plate, partially because the PD are very vigillent and partially because there are hundreds of cameras covering the roads. Over here...

Anyone out there tried these Wago connectors?

Yes. My electrician used some on my bathroom lighting. They're becoming pretty standard over here I think albeit slowly. I've bought some myself and whilst not used in anything, I have tried clamping and unclamping some wires in them and they seem pretty solid. Usually EU electrical standards...

Image flickering when WDR is turned on

Gain is now too high at 80. You should never exceed 50. You will get lots of noise and probably ghosting. If you're needing WDR + Gain at 80 to get an acceptable picture then your camera is in all probability a model that's on a small sensor and poor at night vision. If this is in B&W and not...

As said in one of the earlier threads, if you're worried submit the installer to one of the reputable AV companies for analysis. Residential cameras for exterior- bullet vs turret

The wiring tails for these cameras are very large and I struggled even to get them into a junction box. I'd hate to think of trying to do it without. I'd suggest mounting it onto a junction box for that reason. It doesn't add much to the camera visibly but will make your life a lot easier. Also...
