How much resolution is really needed for LPR

not relevant . whats your point? The stroke width of car number characters are typically 1 cm. Minimum nyquist criterion wld be 2 pixels per stroke width / cm to discern the stroke. A resolution of 3 pixels per stroke width would be desirable to provide for some motion blur, out of focus and...

Using the Wyze Cam OG Telephoto as a low-cost daytime LPC camera

Nice. Good for applications that are concerned with day time parking issues say. Does the camera have an rtsp streaming output?

Is driver identification akin to LPR?

For day, a shaded area, camera as high as possible still able to see driver Night, mount illuminator as close as possible at driver face height. Day time more sophisticated camera would be the Sony on sensor polariser sensor imx250

LPR for Stop Violations (storage and setup)

To have people accessing the camera, the most direct way is to redirect required ports eg 554 from your public ip address to the camera local ip. If your public ip is dynamic then you will need a dynamic dns (ddns) server to map your domain name. The router may provide such a ddns service. To...

    LPR Through Glass

yes in a vehicle. so long as the reflection off the glass into the camera is managed, its no issue. If the illuminator is NIR then test first that the glass has not IR filter ( usually for heat )

    Barrier Gate Guidance

You would need a digital output with relay out. ON the relay for 1 second. The barrier would open. When the car passes the barrier, the inductive loop would signal the barrier to close ( down). Best brand I know is magnetic control but they are expensive. Nice from Italy and others from China...

LPR - focal length and sensor size

If only want to capture retro-reflective plates, any sensor is fine. Non retro-reflective plates requires much more sensitivity at night and requires mono sensors with NIR lighting.
