New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

I am actually in the process of establishing a site-to-site VPN on my routers. I have Cisco RV345P routers on each location, and the ISP-provided routers are in bridge mode. Unfortunately, it isn't working yet. Cisco has been helpful, and I have some things to try when I get back to the home...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Thanks, David. I didn't realize that the LaView doorbell was an HIKVision camera. I downloaded the software you referenced and have adjusted the substream. When I get to the BI server, I'll make some changes there as well. Thanks again ...

BlueIris using substream of IPCamTalk IPCT-HDBW4432F

Thanks! How would I configure BI to fetch a jpg from this camera?

BlueIris using substream of IPCamTalk IPCT-HDBW4432F

Thanks for the added insight. I'll play with the bitrate and i-frame as well.

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

Thanks, David! I don't recognize this configuration screen. I've only used the phone app. It is a LaView HALO ONE ... should I be using the HIKVision app (iVMS-4200) that you reference to get this level of configuration?

BlueIris using substream of IPCamTalk IPCT-HDBW4432F

Walrus, thanks for the reply. Yes, I also assume that is where a change must be made. I don't want to lose a high-res, higher-rate stream, as I will still use that for other things (specifically if I have need to see a better stream on demand, or if being used within the camera's LAN). I...

BlueIris using substream of IPCamTalk IPCT-HDBW4432F

Yes, you set the characteristics of each stream that way. My question is how I I tell BI which stream to use? I guess a related question would be which setting is best for this -- H264,H265 or MJPEG?

BlueIris using substream of IPCamTalk IPCT-HDBW4432F

Hi, I have this camera installed at a remote location (ie, over the internet) from my BlueIris server. I don't need a highly-fluid video, so want to minimize the bandwidth impact. How do I direct BI to the camera's substream, or otherwise reduce framerate and/or resolution?

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

I have the LaView doorbell installed at a lake house and have BlueIris watching it on my home server (at another location) via RTSP. To minimize the internet traffic, I want BI to monitor the lowest reasonable frame rate (e.g. 1 frame per second is plenty) and/or a lower resolution. What is...

LaView ONE Halo -- Installation Failure

Thank you for help! I couldn't find a QR code on the *back* of the camera, though there was a sticker with a bar code there. I just looked again and there IS a QR code on the FRONT of the camera! So, I re-tried everything and found that it uses "Laview_" (or "LaView_") as a prefix to the...

LaView ONE Halo -- Installation Failure

Thanks. There is indeed a screen in which it is asking for my wifi password, and I put that in properly. First, I reset the doorbell. In the phone app, I: 1. click "Add Device" 2. It asks to scan the QR code on the device "on on the document envelop". I've tried pointing it at the Product...

LaView ONE Halo -- Installation Failure

I received my new LaView ONE Halo doorbell and have installed it to new 16V transformer (this is NOT replacing an existing doorbell), and installed the resister/fuse because I do not have any chime/bell installed. The doorbell comes up flashing blue and telling us (audibly) to setup using the...

    Audio Recording Notices

I see many people talking about recording video AND audio from their enabled cameras. In most (all?) states in the United States, it is illegal to do audio surveillance or recording if you are not one of the interacting parties. I don't *know*, but I assume that if you notify people of the...

Recommend doorbell camera for new installation?

Yes, I could simply count on BI to alert when someone passes the doorway. However, this entry door is midway on a long deck porch that leads from the roadside to the back of the house. There will be *many* times people legitimately pass this door (and create movement in the camera's view)...

Recommend doorbell camera for new installation?

Thank you ... I'll check it out! [I probably don't really *need* full HD for a doorbell video]

Recommend doorbell camera for new installation?

Thanks for the response and suggestion. I'm struggling with finding a general description of how it all works. I can see data sheets on various "video door bells", but it would be helpful to see a more friendly "here is what this product does, and how it provides chime, remote alerts...

Recommend doorbell camera for new installation?

    Giving Nest Outdoor a try

I am looking for the best cameras to install on the dock at our new lake house with blue iris, but the night vision is important to me. Any sample clips available?

    Restoring BlueIris to Prior Configuration

With deep apologies for the long delay in responding, let me try to answer your questions: 1. Yes, I do use the server for other things, including as a home media server (e.g. Plex) and home email server. There are only three of us living at our home, and BI fails even when any media servers...

    Restoring BlueIris to Prior Configuration

Hi smiticans! Thanks for asking, and my apologies for the delay as I wanted to be sure I gathered what I thought would be useful: SYSTEM ==> CPU: Intel i7-3770; RAM: 16GB; OS: Windows 2008R2 (*not* setup as Domain Controller). The OS is installed on SSD (very fast!), and the log/recordings go...

    Restoring BlueIris to Prior Configuration

Hi, I've been trying for over two years to get BI working with all my cameras without freezing up, crashing, or creating tens of thousands of 0-byte recordings. For a long time, the issues were infrequent (e.g. BI would continue recording for a week or more before failing), but the 0-byte...
