I assure you it wasn't cold enough to snow...

You can plan the design of where to mount by testing with a normal light spotlight or flashlight, something like: Think of the infrared emitter just like a normal directional light. So if you mount it far away from your camera, you will be lighting up the 'unseen' side of the people you are...

I assure you it wasn't cold enough to snow...

Super cool. Bonus points if you can focus the camera at maximum near distance next time that environment happens, it might show better detail on the water particles.

    3990X & Blueirs thoughts ?

I'm out of my element here. But my first question is, why is this Blue Iris app 'encoding' camera footage? The cameras send it a nicely encoded stream, if the only use case is to store it to disk for later viewing or live viewing, there's no reason there to encode anything. When the use shifts...

    Dahua / Amcrest HTTP API

It's surprising how even the fancy commercial VMS applications make it difficult or nearly impossible to quickly determine how many days' worth of footage each camera has. You'd think they would flaunt that info to the user prominently in the interface and be proud enough to make it easy to...

    DaHua Fisheye (IP) playback issues

I would recommend that you export the footage in question and view it on another computer. If it is still frozen or fails to display video, then you are out of luck with no recourse.

    Better performance?

No, not correct. You probably aren't using the secondary stream, so its settings don't matter, and you could disable it on the settings page. Turn On Smart Codec in main stream. Regarding field of views and zoom rating, the zoom rating itself isn't where you went wrong. A 3x or 4x zoom range is...

    Better performance?

I think your first step should be to verify if this is a camera stream stutter or a viewing device decoding stutter, as your video is apparently a screen capture of a mobile device. I recommend using a Windows PC to view the footage in the camera's web interface, or the RTSP stream in VLC. See...

    Wide view Dahua cam?

It seems that about 110 degrees horizontal is about the widest Field of View on the camera market, for single sensor, non-fisheye/panoramic/360 cameras. To get more horizontal FoV you have to use multiple cameras or one of the types I mentioned.

Andy, I have request for the Dahua engineers, if it is possible to do

The proper Dahua cameras, as well as every camera of repute I've ever dealt with, list their model number somewhere in their web interface. It is simply poor workmanship by the coders responsible if you encounter a camera that does not.

POE injector for Dahua can I use this one

The Ubiquity seems to be wrong voltage, and not an actual PoE standard (802.3af, at, or bt). So I don't think it will work.

    IR "halo", how to fix?

Maybe also try going out there at night, and use a towel to completely cover the camera, and then watch the recorded footage to see if the reflection / artifact goes away once the camera becomes blocked from it surroundings by the towel. And then if it does, you could move the towel slowly at a...

Milestone Alarm Input / outputs - digital i/o

Your explanation is missing a key step. The fence system closes a dry contact, but the missing link is: how does Milestone become aware of this dry contact closure? Depending how it becomes aware of it, the process for configuring Milestone to activate a PTZ preset will vary. As rsox...

Milestone Alarm Input / outputs - digital i/o

I'm a bit confused by your use case. These perimeter sensors & security lighting you mention.. presumably you want to receive these field devices to sense some condition, and then Milestone to become aware of that sense trigger in the form of a Milestone Input, right?

Vivotek models with 2MP 1/2.8" sensors?

The few times I've played with them, I always found them to be quality cameras. Perhaps a little more 'conventional' or 'mainstream' than the Dahua and Hikvision options. Perhaps between a Bosch and a Dahua as far as the software/firmware/interface.

Anybody tried getting rid of the plugs?

I think the 12v plug is used by some here when they use an external microphone. They use a PoE power splitter just before the camera connection to send power to both the microphone and camera.

Night Images Of An 8MP 4K Camera With A 1/2.5 Sensor And A 1/1.8 Sensor Compared

Clearly the top image is more washed out, with brighter blacks. So the bottom image 'looks' better. But for CCTV purposes, I don't think there is any quantifiable difference between them. Both show the same detail near and far, on dark and on bright surfaces.

Review: Dahua IPC-EW5531-AS 5MP Fisheye Camera

Which PTZ for mounting on the top of the pole?

For true 360 unobstructed you need something like a Pelco Esprit. A regular dome will always be obscured by its mounting pole because they have to hang from something. The Esprit design has the added benefit that it can look upwards to very high angles, again besting the functionality of a dome...
