Putting Together a New Dahua Based System

You can be sure it's an ISP router he has. I have the same one and bridged it...... Never thought of that. TeamViewer would sending be video while WebUI is just sending HTML and assets so much lighter.

I'll check what version of Windows 7 they have as I'd prefer not to hack it to run RDP.

Dahua Mini Black Face PTZ (SD29204S-GN & SD29204T-GN)

Might have been asked already and I'll trawl through the thread now, but what auxiliary lighting do you have out front as shown in the videos on the OP? It seems to really help the night vision.

Putting Together a New Dahua Based System

I presume it would mean putting a second router in there for VPN or port forwarding. He doesn't have a static IP address but ways around that. Not against doing that either though.....

Putting Together a New Dahua Based System

I'm all for KISS especially when it comes to this fella. I could put TeamViewer on his wife's laptop for remotely logging in to the WebUI or SmartPSS. I also could suggest any money savings be put towards a managed PoE switch which might give me a bit more remote control of his system.

Putting Together a New Dahua Based System

Thanks I'll take a look. Also I'm not adverse to something like a Dahua NVR as the 4216 will save about $100 over the PC + Blue Iris. That said I've never used an NVR so no idea how to control it or if I could do anything remotely on it (I suspect not).

Putting Together a New Dahua Based System

Hi guys...... So my brother has asked me to start some research into a system for him which we'll look to build in about 8 weeks. Currently I'm all Hikvision but looking to Dahua for this system as he wants at least 1 camera with a microphone. My thinking is that I might as well stick with the...

Floodlight position with Hikvision EXIR turret dome

That looks like one of a the "Solla" LED flood lights. Is it? If so, what do you think of them? I'm considering 5 or 6 15w lights around the house for dusk to dawn lighting http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/BC1sLYc

Migrating BI From Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro (x64)

I'm looking to migrate my BI installation from Window 7 to Windows 10. Anything special I need to do? Essentially I have BI running on a VM and I'm repurposing my NAS machine to a workstation running Windows 10. Currently the BI machine is Windows 7 Pro VM running on unRAID. Is it simply a...

Have the Cameras. How Do You Run Yours?

Stoopid question maybe. Why not colour at night if you have external lighting? Want to record when the lights are not on also?

Have the Cameras. How Do You Run Yours?

My folks went to the local community alert meeting recently which was attended by a police representative and he swore blind that the biggest deterrent was dusk to dawn lighting. Not sure I buy into it that much! That said I can see a real benefit if there's enough lighting to disable IR on the...

Have the Cameras. How Do You Run Yours?

Another question..... How do you guys set up for continuous recording? I presume continuous with motion detection but how do you have your clips chopped up? Will I still receive alerts on the Blue Iris iPhone app as if I was just running motion detection and view them as normal also?

    iPhone App Worth It?

Ok cool and assign the same group to each user? So motion alerts are on a user basis and not on a camera/camera group basis?

    iPhone App Worth It?

Another question. What is the best way to configure two iPhones to access the same cameras on the same BI instance? Both connect as the same user or create two users, two groups but with each camera added to both groups? Basically my wife wants the app also but I'd like to have the alerts. I'm...

    Fanless Windows PC Configuration

Agree there. I used to buy expensive AV cables but now make my own if I can or just buy good quality, but cheap. I still laugh at $1000 "audiophile" USB cables.....

    Fanless Windows PC Configuration

Yeah I agree with the guys above. I just built an i7 system with a Fractal Design R5 case, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler, Seasonic fanless PSU. Can't hear the thing unless my ear is right next to it. Love the R5 case so much I just bought a second for a NAS build. Best case I've ever used.

To Ken if you look at your forums

Just to weigh in on this one..... When I bought my BI license early last month (August 2016), I made the initial attempt to order on a Saturday. Had an issue, probably the same as the OP, and emailed support (around 5am EST). I had a response before 9am EST. I made payment through PayPal the...

Have the Cameras. How Do You Run Yours?

Yes it's unacceptable but also a learning process I believe. I now have extra, better quality, cameras up, getting a dog and looking at lighting. My only concern with motion lights is the time it takes for the camera to switch from night mode. 24/7 recording seems to be popular so I'll...

    best OS for Blueiris

Yeah used that Classic Shell on Windows 8.0 before. It's good. This is my planned course of action (maybe). New machine, install 7 Pro & SP1. Upgrade to 10 Pro using the assistive loophole. Then create an install USB key with a clean version of 10 Pro and rebuild the machine (not a fan of...

Have the Cameras. How Do You Run Yours?

So I'm just wondering what other peoples home security strategy is and whether they run with IR or not. I have 6 of the Hikvision 2CD2335-I's and 4 are mounted so far. The other two will be going in this week. I'm using BI for recording. But I'm wondering how others are running their security...

Interesting that 7 can't do QSV with BI running as a service. I guess I'll be looking at 8.1 or 10 then.
