SOLVED: Do not upgrade to 5.6.0!!! Much worser exposure/focus performance
I have v5.6.0 build 190128 for your model, not sure if it would be any different. I've asked around about downgrading from v5.6.x to an earlier firmware with full access to the shell but haven't had any feedback. I'll try on Monday if I can get my hands on the camera. -

Out of interest, if you had a G1 series camera ( v5.6+ firmware) with nonPSH access, would it be possible to downgrade to a much earlier firmware? Other advantages one could leverage with that level of access? -

Try the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool. Follow the suggestions then try re-install BI. Failing that, download the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and install it. Do a Windows update if you still don't come right.- StewartM

Mouse Problem
As stated above, the mouse that comes bundled with the NVR is an exercise of one's self control. Moving the mouse to one of the other USB ports occasionally remedies the issue. FYI, the NVR supports wireless mice. -
