    Is this a Starlight camera?

Agreed. Just wait till you move from one eco-system to another, then the fun and games really start. :P Seriously, although I have spent an inordinate amount of time dialing the Dahua gear in, the quality of image makes it worthwhile. Haven't had a random reboot in 20 hours and all the IVS...

    Is this a Starlight camera?

Looks like a good way of driving traffic to your link. HOWEVER, if it it not listed at first sticky at top of page then highly unlikely to be a starlight.

I am sure you have and it would work with no worries with the NVR's PTZ controller. The thing is you are trying to control a vari-focal camera with a PTZ controller. Different comunication protocols. Pretty sure that through the latest full releases of the Dahua NVR software that I was playing...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 vs IPC-HFW5231E-Z5

Moore's Law and charging what the market will bare. IT in Asia is a funny old thing. Release a new and improved product at a lower price point and let the uninformed buy they old stuff at old prices.

2 IR illuminators and their differences

Raytec are VERY good but you get what you pay for. Check out some of their other videos. Designed and built in the UK. Actually a lot of really good CCTV gear is pommy. After-all they are the most surveilled people on the planet. Unlike some of the other high end products you can buy it in...

2 IR illuminators and their differences

The AXTON link in OP goes to B&H photo and it states in the overview "The rugged IP67-rated housing protects against dust and direct water sprays, and can be nitrogen purged." . This info is confirmed at the manufacturers product page I do not have the time or inclination to read the tech docs...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Great. Set the zoom there and should be good to go. The only reason I am still up and working is my first experience with a Dahua NVR is driving me nuts. I do believe that zoom can be set in the NVR but can't tell you where because I am playing with an alpha or beta firmware and it is not the...

2 IR illuminators and their differences

Got to love the ability to be able to Nitrogen flush an IR light housing. Guess if nitrogen if great for packing small goods and salads in bags at the supermarket and supposedly good for inflating your tyres with, then hang the expense I will be gas flushing all my sealed electronics.

    What's this?

Good god, don't you guys even know what an Israeli made Trumpatron looks like? Lucky we have a member who trains their camera's onto their neighbors house to alert the masses that these things are out there. Nice camera by the way, don't understand why you would want to look that closely at a...

IE while not a great browser, usually is the most friendly to IPTV gear. Is it asking you to install and allow plugins? If so, allow it. Kinda confused, was you network already on 192.168.1.XXX and you just got lucky or did you previously connect directly to the camera? In any case, if you...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

@HalfMoon, mate can I ask you are serious question? What kind of alarm control panel do you have and what kind of perimeter and external sensors are you using? 13 cameras when you can see your neighbors' house is seriously hardcore.

Get a plank of wood or jury rig any other temporary mount for one of the cams, power it up, connect to it, and trial and error. You will work it out. I on the other hand will drill holes into brick/concrete, try it out and if it doesn't work, rip it out and patch the holes.

@Tygunn Thanks mate for all your effort in pulling the debug info from console. Much appreciated. Have loaded the new firmware and hasn't rebooted yet. Hey, it has only been 25 minutes but that is an improvement on what have been witnessing. Have started from scratch so many times, that I...

Thanks. Been staring at this screen for too many hours. I really wish I had read and digested info in this and @Tygunn 's thread more thoroughly before buying a 5216. Sorry @Crazykiller probably a silly question. The screen shot above from your NVR? My PLAYBACK tab does not have the "Download by time" or "Watermark" tabs and I am running the latest software from the Dahua site. Are you running a different firmware?

    "IVS Optional"

I had this issue yesterday. I received 3 of theIPC-HDW5231R-Z and all had slightly different software and one was "missing" the IVS feature in the events menu. Luckily I had 2 other cameras to compare to, otherwise I would have been screwed. What was different was the Camera>Video>Video...

OK. Is it possible to reduce the IR reflection on wall to right of frame and possibly above the camera? Firstly try and re-aim camera away from wall to right. Can also test with matt black cardboard or matt black paint or even a black (or dark) T-shirt to the right of the camera. I would try a...

Blurring with IR on IPC-HDBW4231F-AS - (Mini Wedge)

If same results when dome off, then image properties need to be changed. However it looks that the dome might not be securely snugged down or there is an issue with light sealing ring around the lens.
