Trying to make a decision on my system

This is the switch that I'm looking to get to run 2 59225's and 4 2231's. Ubiquiti Networks 8-Port UniFi Switch, Managed PoE+ Gigabit Switch with SFP, 150W (US-8-150W) - Newegg.com. Is this a good switch for these cameras? Also, I was looking at this cable Monoprice Entegrade Cat6A Ethernet...

Trying to make a decision on my system

I was gonna go synology survellience station, but this setup you mentioned is what I decided to go with from research here on the forums. Seems to be popular for high performance. I love my synology, but after looking at how much licenses were as well, I can buy a separate pc and run blue iris...

Trying to make a decision on my system

I was looking at this PTZ cam for my needs https://amzn.to/2WAueyS. Is this a good camera for my needs? I want auto tracking as well. Also, for around this price range, am I getting the best ptz camera or is it worth it to go up a little bit in price?

Trying to make a decision on my system

I have 5 acres that I need to see. There are areas around the perimeter of the home I think the 2231's will work, but I have a large front and backyard I would like to see as well. Can you give me a little insight on how the ptz cams work as far as motion? Do they scan large areas of the...

Trying to make a decision on my system

@aristobrat is this the switch that you use? https://amzn.to/2KejbFd. I read that poe thread, but it seems theres a lot of various opinions. I want something that will work great with my dahua 5231's, has enough power for all of them and possible ptz cams in the future, and will allow me up to...

Trying to make a decision on my system

As far as the hard drive space. I think I read a lot of people here use some kind of purple hard drive or something. Will blue iris allow me to write to the synology for all recording?

Trying to make a decision on my system

That makes sense. I think I'm just gonna go with all 5231's. A few more things. If I had a preference(based on my reading) I would probably go with blue iris based on what I read and terms of performance. But, I only have 1 main computer and a synology. So, it makes it pretty convenient to...

Trying to make a decision on my system

This camera was mentioned at the top of the post about being popular for doors/porches Front door ID camera IPC-HDBW4231F?. But here's my question. Why not just go with 5231's everywhere around the house? Does this 4231 have an advantage to just putting a 5231 in the front doorway?

Trying to make a decision on my system

I plan to use Synology Diskstation with my cameras. So, if I have the synology recording all the cameras 24/7 and I view a live feed of the camera on my smartphone while I am away, does that count as using 2 streams?

Trying to make a decision on my system

I apologize for not understanding this, but what do you mean by "secondary streams?" Does this mean that the other ip camera can record 2 different points of view at once or streams? I appreciate your help.

Trying to make a decision on my system

That makes sense. A few questions. With the 2231's, how far out will they zoom? Also, what is the real difference between the Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE and Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal?

Trying to make a decision on my system

I've definitely decided on going with the Dahua cams that were mentioned in the second reply for around my home. I'm just trying to decide which ones and how many I need. I live on 5 acres of land. Andy recommended an PTZ cam for certain parts of my property, so I was looking at this...
