My thoughts on, and review of the Amcrest IP5M T1179EW 28MM

Based on the response you got that there still isn't control of the IR in the Dahua software, no. However, I did get the 3.6mm camera and installed it yesterday (and apparently I need more practice terminating CAT6), again, it's got a great picture right out of the box, but my placement of this...

Same here. On or off are the only options. I noticed that the camera adjusts to fix the washout (IDK if it's dimming the IR, or changing the exposure) if given a couple of seconds (but that doesn't help when the object is in motion). I have enough ambient light that I turn the IR off. Maybe...

You are correct and I was being a bit lazy and trying to not upload video (all those seconds saved). I should have time tonight to cut the video down to something showing me walking from the 30' mark back in so when the face becomes recognizable is clear (my memory says motion blur is zero, but...

The firmware on the cam is the latest available from Amcrest. It is a Dahua camera and some people have reflashed it to Dahua firmware, but I'm not that brave.

    Pi-hole

I'm running Blue Iris and Home Assistant (inside Docker) on the same machine and don't have any issues. Pi Hole isn't resource intensive so I think if your computer has a little spare capacity it should be fine (obligatory it will probably run better on an SSD statement here). I'm running Pi...

My thoughts on, and review of the Amcrest IP5M T1179EW 28MM

I am, by no means, a security camera expert. I am still learning, so when I found an offer to review this camera in exchange for a refund of the purchase price, it was a no lose proposition since there was no specific requirement that it be a positive review. This is my first “serious” night...

You really shouldn't try to commit burglaries in your own car

Am I the only one picturing the perp doing this because they are too morbidly obese to walk down the street? Maybe a mobility scooter would be more stealthy?

    Joke Thread

Little Johnny asked his mom. "Mommy, mommy, do people go to heaven feet first?" I don't know Johnny, why do you ask? Johnny says "I just walked by Aunt Pam's room and she was laying on her bed with her feet up in the air screaming 'Oh god, I'm coming, Oh god I'm coming'. And she woulda gone...

    Suspicious Man

I don't know. Car in drive and shoes by the door tells me somebody is home. Might be looking in to see if you were hiding and pretending to not be home. On the other hand, pretending to be on the phone could be a distraction technique. Do you have enough camera to see if he went to your...

Neighbor's Pickup Truck Stolen Early This Morning.

It doesn't look random, so were they after that specific truck or just that model. Did the club cause them the extra time, I would think if they were after that specific truck they would have cased it previously, known about the club and had a method to deal with it.

More Car Troubles on the Corner

My guess is: The car had a coolant leak, the offending parts were replaced and she was test driving it. Either the second electric fan kicked on and she noticed because she was paying attention or the temp light came on because the system wasn't full. Nobody is that prepared for a car...

Dangerous ATV and Motor cycle riders!

It doesn't take long to find video of why 4 wheelers don't belong on the road. Yep, they can do 50MPH, but they aren't made to stop or turn at high speed on pavement. Brakes lock up and the front end washes out or you roll it.

    Garden Pictures

Most of them will take around 8 weeks. The pole beans should be better producers than the bush varieties, but if we get an early winter that won't happen.

    Garden Pictures

Fall garden starts and tests. The first tomatoes we planted are done, but the suckers we pruned off and planted are starting to produce. The spring crop of green beans, black eyed peas, sugar snap peas and pinto beans are all done. So it was time to start some stuff for fall and I'm still...

    Dumping Why?

A long, long time ago, in the late 70s, I was a kid playing in our front yard and a truck drove by. As it went by, the kids in the back wrestled a big landscape rock over the side, it hit the road, tumbled and caved in the rear quarter panel of the truck. I told my parents what happened and I...

How are various cars being entered and stolen in my neighborhood?

I don't know if a 2012 RR would have keyless start for a relay attack to work? Watch the guy starting around 4:22. This was from 2016, so no doubt the technology has gotten better. So, if you had a crew rolling up and down the street throwing out radio signals, eventually you're going to get...

Burning & Exploding Car - Yes, really.

Nice of the car to turn it's lights on at 6:50 to help the FD locate it. Almost has to be arson, and given our current economic situation, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an insurance job.

Bike Rider Falls in the Street

Looks way too fast (which isn't a problem till you run out of talent), looks like she locked the back wheel (again, not a problem till you run out of talent), and then the bike starts to slide to her left, which is when she ran out of talent and converted a possible low side into a high side.
