According to the manual the default ip address is 192.0.0.64 and not 192.168.1.64.

Did you try reaching out to the seller? You could try sending a message to Andy (@EMPIRETECANDY) asking him if he can help confirm whether your camera is a genuine Dahua unit. While you may not have purchased the camera from him, he has been known to help out forum members here. Also, if you...

CAT 6 ISP and POE distribution

I'd recommend getting a managed switch off ebay. I use a HP Procurve 2620 24 port POE+ switch which has 12 POE and 12 standard network ports. You could probably find one for around $40.

I'm not sure how to tell if the camera is a genuine Dahua. I bought my cams through @EMPIRETECANDY through this site. Hopefully someone else here may be able to assist you in that regard.

Where did you buy the camera from? It's important to know this so you get the correct firmware from the correct source. You can usually update it from within the camera's web interface.

Take a look at this thread How to view Dahua cameras without browser plugins. You might want to check the firmware for your camera.

I may be mistaken but didn't some Dahua cameras have updated firmware that no longer required the use of plugins?

    Camera not working properly

If the camera does not work in any of the places where the others do or it does not function as the sole device on the nvr/dvr and you have swapped the cables too, then it is highly likely that the camera is at fault. Does it have a separate power supply? If so have you tried swapping that with...

    Newbie from Indy

Welcome. Check out the Cliff Notes and the Wikis. Rather than building a pc, look on eBay for a used one along with a managed POE switch.

Have you tried the camera as the only device connected to the NVR?

Have you tried the camera in place of one of the working ones? Have you tried a short cable from the NVR to the camera?

New to IP cameras with lots of questions

Welcome to the forum. If you are looking for a cheap used POE managed switch, you can find HP Procurve 2620 switches for an excellent price (around $40) on ebay. I use this model of switch myself.

    POE Switch recomdations,

A managed switch allows more configuration flexibility i.e. vlans and security (access lists). I use a HP Procurve 2620 managed switch which I picked up on ebay for $34. It has 12 POE+ ports and 12 regular ports along with two 1Gb uplink ports. Are you planning on using your home/business...

    Am I missing anything?

You could just create a shortcut on your desktop to the UI3 interface, which allows you to access Blue Iris using a web browser.

    Suggestions for network segment

If you are running Blue Iris as the nvr, then you can use the dual nic method or if you're willing to learn, you can use a managed switch to implement vlans and segregate your network. My preferred method is the latter.

HikVision DVR can't use web live view

I use an Asus router with Merlin's firmware loaded on it and I have no complaints. What model laptop do you have? It should have an ethernet port. You would need to manually set an ip address on the laptop that matches the range of the nvr so if your nvr is 192.168.0.22, then the laptop would...

VLANs, Netgear Switch only to PC 2nd Ethernet Jack

You will need some form of network connectivity be it Wi-Fi or network to use the mobile version. Your switch does support L3 routing which is great because you could set things up the same way as I have. If you need some assistance let me know. Btw love your username because it describes me to a T.

HikVision DVR can't use web live view

Just did a quick Google and it appears that router is locked down in terms of the DHCP address range. I'm not familiar with it. Even when I lived in the UK, I never used the ISP provided routers solely for the reason that they are aimed at the home user and they are locked down and are very...

What model is your POE switch and do you know if it is capable of doing Layer 3 routing? I have a HP POE switch and I have 3 vlans set up on it. Dahua camera phoning home to China

Only you can convince yourself whether or not a camera system is right for you. For me it is a little bit of piece of mind for when no one is home. It's more a deterrent than anything else. Whilst it doesn't guarantee safety, it does give me the ability to capture any unscrupulous person(s)...
