    HAC-HFW1200R-VF-IRE6 vs IPC-HFW4431R-Z

Thanks again, I have to learn a lot and it seems I'm in the right school here, as I hadn't noticed about the 15fps limit, but what is the disadvantage of having only 15fps? Will that offer a less clear picture? I will install only 6 cameras with no real plan to install more, but with a 8ch I...

    HAC-HFW1200R-VF-IRE6 vs IPC-HFW4431R-Z

Great advice, thanks. I just watched a Youtube how to connect those baluns, and it seems I can even make my own cheap PoE if I buy the right adapters. You think the $1 Ebay baluns will do the job?

    HAC-HFW1200R-VF-IRE6 vs IPC-HFW4431R-Z

Thanks for that, I wasn't aware of it. Do you may be have a link to such a balun, so i know what to search for? I can find this on Ebay, but no idea how you connect a Cat5 cable to that. 2x CAT5 CCTV Camera Passive BNC Video Balun to UTP Connector Transceiver XB NEW I had this VXR in mind...

    HAC-HFW1200R-VF-IRE6 vs IPC-HFW4431R-Z

The budget was the reason it caught my eye, however I have Ethernet cable in place and would have to pull coax in this case, I'm still considering as it is a 2mp camera. I notice that the sensor is 1/2.7" where the majority of IP cameras is 1/3" Is that smaller sensor size a positive or rather...

Thanks for the warning, I hadn't noticed that, so this camera is of no interest to me.

    HAC-HFW1200R-VF-IRE6 vs IPC-HFW4431R-Z

I found a few threads on this forum praising the IPC-HFW4431R-Z for its quality. Now I found the HAC-HFW1200R-VF-IRE6 which is the 2mp version of the former, but is a lot cheaper. I also found posts on this forum that, unless I misunderstand them, say that a 2Mp is better in night vision than a...

    Dahua genuineness

I understand that more IR leds will provide more light, but does that also necessarily mean that they will beam further? I thought, but I may be wrong of course, that to have a longer beam you would need stronger led's, not just multiply them. If anyone should have experience with the above...

    Dahua genuineness

Am I correct in my assumption that all Dahua cameras offered on Ebay ending on I2 - I4 - I6 are modifications done by the seller, and can I trust them> I'm in the market for IPC-HFW4431M or K or IPC-HFW4436M or K cameras. The IPC-HFW4431M I can find on the Dahua website , but not ending on I2...

    Dahua Smartpss

I understand but at $40 for a 1Tb drive I guess I can manage. I was considering purchasing my cameras with sd card slot, so the money I save on 5 sd cards and on the cameras without card slot, will more than pay for the NVR and HDD.

Ooops, and I can't even blame it on not having had my morning coffee yet, since it's almost midnight here :embarrassed: By the way, would the one I linked to do the job, for basic needs?

    Dahua Smartpss

On your suggestion I looked in the NVR listings, and it is indeed inexpensive. I found a 8Ch Dahua NVR on Ebay, but what I don't understand is that it has only 1 rj-45 port, so how do you connect 8 ip cameras? 8-CH Compact 1U Lite Network Video Recorder NVR DAHUA NVR2108HS-S2 | eBay

    Camera placement advice

Could be because my house is in Asia. Honestly, the area I live in is extremely safe. I have infrared beams on the wall, and a sophisticated security system, and in 6 years it haven't needed it once. Haven't heard of any burglaries in the neighbourhood either, so I definitely don't want to...

    Camera placement advice

Consider like this. The land plot and house area are indeed square like you assume, with the black square is my perimeter wall, and behind that wall is open field at all sides. No other houses around. What is green in your drawing is my yard (lawn), but between house and perimeter wall is big...

    Dahua Smartpss

Thanks for the reply. I have no intention on connecting a NVR, but if i understand correctly Smartpss has a PC recording function built in, or is that a separate software. Actually I will not be recoding much, since alarm will be a hassle in my situation because of too many large plants in the...

    Dahua Smartpss

My camera setup will consist of 5 Dahua cameras. I noticed there is a software for Windows called Smartpss, which I assume works only with Dahua cameras. Is that correct? Is this software any good or can't it be compared to Blue iris or alike? I have no need for fancy functions, I have an...

    Camera placement advice

Thanks for the reponse. I definitely am not interested to know what is going on in the yard, and probably I didn't make myself clear enough, due to English not be my native language. What I tried to explain is that I perfectly can mount the cameras that they beam along the length of either...

    Camera placement advice

My property is square sized and completely fenced with a 2 meter high perimeter wall. On the wall is a infrared beam security system installed. The house is at each side at least 10 meters separated from the perimeter wall. It may be a bit complicated, and involve more cameras than I want to...

Change a Hikvision lens from 2.8mm to 4mm or 6mm?

Thanks for the help and advice guys, you have saved me a lot of time and headaches. I can now order the cameras I like the most, where before I had to consider other models because of available lens size. Great forum.

Change a Hikvision lens from 2.8mm to 4mm or 6mm?

Thanks again, and sorry for the continued dumb question, but I have one more. The longer screws are for the lens board, and you put washers under the board, is that correct. is 2 x 10 a standard size for most cameras?

Change a Hikvision lens from 2.8mm to 4mm or 6mm?

Thanks, to move the module board, is that a complicated operation or is there a manual somewhere? Edit : I see the video is the actual manual. Can I assume that this procedure is possible with the majority of cameras? Edit 2 : I looked the tutorial videos over and over, but I don't see him...

Change a Hikvision lens from 2.8mm to 4mm or 6mm?

Hi Bick, can I know what model camera you have installed that 25mm lens. I'm currently looking to purchase some Hikvision cameras, and would require probably 16mm or larger lens, but can't find anything larger than 6mm fixed. Would be handy to know which cameras are suitable for such a large...

    Firmware not upgradable

Thanks, that is also the main reason why I prefer Ebay sellers, as I can pay with Paypal which makes it easy to get a refund if there are issues. But as I see Ali mentioned many times on here, may be someone else can recommend some sellers which who they repeatedly had positive experiences.

    Firmware not upgradable

I notice many on here order their camera's from Aliexpress, while I'm more familiar with Ebay, though I notice prices on the former are generally lower. What do I have to watch out on Ali, like are there any recommendations for trusted sellers, or tips that I should heed? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response. I had a look at the review of the bullet camera and liked it even more, but I need the sd card, so I guess the dome will be my only choice. Do you have the domes mounted out of the box, or did you add a surface mount?

Hi Guys, sorry to resurrect this old thread, but had some other things to consider and didn't make the purchase yet. Now I'm back in the market and i listened to your advice about the varifocal cameras. Currently I'm going between 2 models, both about the same price, so would like to ask if...

Thanks again but still out of my range, $45 + shipping to Thailand, add another $20 + shipping for a poe injector then I will probably already be close to my $100 budget and I don't have a camera yet. Those VAP11G in the Ebay link would suit me better, if they work of course. I only need to...

    Firmware not upgradable

Hi guys, sorry for the delay. I'm completely won for the varifocal cameras, though there are a few cameras that have to be wireless, and it seems difficult to find a wireless varifocal Dahua. At least at a reasonable price. Is there a way to add an accessory to a IP camera that makes it...
