Show me some of you ideas for hiding cameras.

Lol you and me both and that doesn’t take into account the remaining 9 matching lights nor the 35 plus bronze land scape lights. Buy once and cry once.

4321F. There are 3 sizes to our lights, I chose the medium and the damn light is $540 each, hope the cam will fit. If not I’ve got to go up in light size as does cost at $849 per light. They are bronze and corrosion is a big concern as we are on a saltwater bay. Stuck like Chuck.

Show me some of you ideas for hiding cameras.

We are a month or so from breaking ground on a new house and the front door will have carriage lights that are hopefully going to have a big enough base to install a camera in. Months ago I’d found this pic and we hope to duplicate the look.

    Mounting height

Regardless of the lens, you’ll catch video of tops of heads more so than a much better capture mounted at say 7’. Read the Wiki.

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

IF both cameras both produced results equal to the 5231, I’d be inclined to agree. This is not the case as of today. Nice start but it’s lacking considerably IMHO and YMMV.

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

IMHO the 5231 reigns supreme for now albeit that may change a ways down the road. Since there won’t be a VF Turret my choice is EZ.

How about this computer for BI?

Take your time and search as others have said and plan now for the future. Do you want good or cheap? Pick one and I’d think that @fenderman can easily make a suggestion. But good and cheap? Not so easy, you’ve got an investment planned for the system as a whole. My dad told me years ago rest...

    Garage PTZ inside or ?

Thanks @fenderman, not a must for a PTZ. I recall seeing posts a while back and thought it may be an option but not a requirment.

    Garage PTZ inside or ?

Looking for suggestions for a couple of Starlight cams for inside a garage. New construction and breaking ground in a month or so. 3 car garage and workshop area, wide open space. Garage is 26’ deep x about 40’ long. I was thinking one mounted in the workshop area close to entrance into house...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

The AUTO mode does NOT equate to SMART IR per @looney2ns previous comments. As Andy said, these need work and until these camera have the same features available as the 2MP Starlights, such as Smart IR and the availability of VF lenses in the turret models, my money is still on the 2MP versions...

    Is the 5231 still TopDog?

To each their own glad you are happy.
  29. ThomasPI

    Is the 5231 still TopDog?

IMHO the 5231 is still king of the hill. That cam has a long way to go and no varifocal. Put that cam in the 5231 housing with a varifocal lens and dial in firmware and now you have a winner.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E AI Varifocal Bullet

Thanks looney that’s better. I’m not concerned with LPR but the distance is of interest. Our street mucin like yours doesn’t have a great deal of light at night and I’d be looking at the 150’ mark max to capture night time activity in the immediate area of the house at a distance.
