    Who is your go to supplier for drives aside from Amazon and Newegg? Just going to spot check prices. 18 cam system going in with BI optimized and I’m thinking 2 4TB Purple Drives splitting cam recording evenly between them.

    I was of the same mindset, what could go wrong right ? Plenty, along with BI giving you more latitude and dependability it’s a no brainer. Combine that with the untiring resources from members here, choosing NOT to use BI is a mistake I will not make.

    Thanks I’ll do some digging around, I’ve got no idea. From everything I’ve found posted by @fenderman the cards will cause issues so I’m going to either pull it or disable it or put it on eBay. New card but no go.

    Only thing I will add is buy with a credit card, your purchase may qualify for double warranty coverage. Our CC does, I don’t carry a balance and always pay it off to avoid interest charges.

    A plausible option for you MIGHT be Synology Surveillance Station. It’s quirky from what little I’ve read and it’ll be cheaper than hiring a full time security guard, but it’s costly. I prefer BI.

    You’ve got great advice and all I will add in is INVEST. Invest TIME before money and read and ask questions. I’ve been doing it for 2 years plus and still have a TON of learning to do. Do this and incorporate the advice given and you’ll be ahead of the curve.
