    Dahua 2MP Starlight Lineup

Somewhat more recent Low Light Quick Guide from Dahua.... Dated December.

A46 baby monitor. Web configuration stripped

As far as I've been able to tell only the very first ones had the web interface. All later firmware versions do not have a web interface and I dont think it can be downgraded unless you physically disassemble the camera and tie into the circuit board TTL serial interface. Might not even work...

No. Not possible. The newer firmware is signed and will not allow any unsigned files. The only way would be to get the 256 bit encryption key (which will never happen) from Dahua to sign the new files.

Both are the exact same thing??? If the one you have is running a newer signed version of firmware, I'm not sure that it will be possible to downgrade it back to the older unsigned firmware.

    Lorex

The Lorex NR916N is the older version. From what I can tell though, the newer version NR ones are physically identical which means to me they are just the newer version of the NVR5xxx=4KS2 which are now named N52xxx and N54xxx. If you check Dahua for firmware, the new N52/54 ones still use the...

They should work. I've also found on mine that you can use a regular serial cable but you need to swap the two data pins on the connector inside the NVR where the serial port connects to the mainboard is all.

    What Would You do

Well OP has not been back here in nearly a month but one thing that I can point out on that Lorex kit is the NVR is one of the Lorex NR ones which is a rebadged Dahua NVR52xx--xP-4KS2 that has a nice upgraded front panel with actual control buttons. One thing Lorex does on both the cameras and...

    Lorex

No idea if it is something I can really confirm myself as I have loaded Dahua firmware on mine..... I know I can select 30FPS though.

    Lorex

Yeah looking at that model I'm not sure that one is one of the OEM Dahua models. The interface looks more like some of the lower end DVR's I've had in the past. It is also only H.264 while most all of the current stuff is H.265 which cuts the required bitrate needed pretty much in half due to a...

    Lorex

In my opinion that is a bit of a misleading blanket statement as they have multiple different NVR/DRV's that are capable of 4K. The specific "system" in the post you quoted, Lorex 4KHDIP3216, is a kit. The NVR in that specific kit is a rebadged Dahua NVR 5232-4KS2 NVR. That NVR is capable of up...

    Lorex

Likely not possible to hack the actual firmware since all the firmware is signed now and without Dahua's key to generate the new checksum it will reject any modified firmware. Not saying it is impossible though and I have an idea of how mit might be able to be done but I'm not going to discuss...

    DH-SD1A203T-GN WDR function not working..

There is a newer firmware.... Link http://dahuawiki.com/images/Firmware/DH_SD-Mao-Rhea_EngSpnFrn_N_Stream3_IVS_V2.623.0000000.2.R.180913.zip Release note attached - does not say anything about WDR though.... There is also an even newer version you can find on the web but I have not seen...

NVR 5216-4KS2 - Doesn't work when second HDD added

No idea myself.... I did load the 20181229 one on mine (has two WD Purple drives in it) and it seems fine. Regardless - good to hear the other december one is working good for you!

NVR 5216-4KS2 - Doesn't work when second HDD added

You have ruled out an incompatibility with the hard drive and the NVR as it works with either one. You have ruled out SATA cables as well. 1 - some bizarre incompatibility between the two hard drives themselves - even though they are the same model maybe the actual drives have different firmware...

NVR 5216-4KS2 - Doesn't work when second HDD added

No you cannot split a standard single port SATA connection. You do need another SATA cable when adding a second drive. Mine did not come with one. I'd also check that maybe the extra SATA cable you are using is not somehow bad. I have had a bad SATA cable more than once.

NVR 5216-4KS2 - Doesn't work when second HDD added

Voltage will not be an indicator if the power supply is just failing to provide enough current. For what it's worth both of the NVR-5216-16P-4KS2 NVR's I have run two WD Purple drives just fine (two different capacities too, one 3TB + 1 4TB in each). That being said mine is a "16P" model which...

NVR 5216-4KS2 - Doesn't work when second HDD added

Power is also my guess but if you even had just any other old spare sata hard drive then try it. If it works with both that and the original than you would at least confirm that either there is a power draw difference between the two or some sort of odd firmware compatibility issue between the...

    Any rebranded Dahua Starlight Cams?

Andy (EmpireTech on Amazon) is an excellent and trustworthy source (who I have also bought a few from and is very active here on IPCamtalk) but there are a ton of third party branded cameras that are Dahua. The catch is that it is generally not readily apparent exactly which model Dahua it might...

    Lorex

It really is pretty simple to do yourself and would both be much cheaper (just need to get a serial cable), a good learning experience, and the ability and confidence to do something like that in the future. Two other issues as well. One is no one has the stock Lorex firmware for that specific...

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

Ah okay. If it initializes the network port you might also be able to use the TFTP method used here.... Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP Just like the cameras (at least my 5216-4ks2) it attempts to connect to a TFTP server at 192.168.254.254 BUT instead of the same generic txt...

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

Couple of potential issues. Did you flip the tx/rx pins on the port (posted about that above)? If so maybe newer ones or some are not wired as null modem and they did not need to be flipped. Try it with the speed set to maybe 9600 or some of the other speeds (still 8n1 though)? Can you confirm...

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

All of the Dahua cameras use low voltage TTL RS232 but the NVR uses true RS232 serial which is much higher voltage. On the NVR you use a regular serial cable not a TTL cable.... It is even possible that the much higher voltage serial signals from the NVR could damage the TTL converter cable...

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

I'd check the firmware you downloaded just to be sure. This one should be correct for that camera. http://dahuawiki.com/images/Firmware/DH_SD-Mao-Themis_EngSpnFrn_N_Stream3_IVS_V2.622.0000000.3.R.180116.zip

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

Check the commands.txt file you edit for the individual lines. Edit that with something besides notepad. I use TextPad myself. With notepad it is probably adding extra spaces at the end or something. That messed me up once. Might not be the issue but it might be... then re-run the commands.bat...

A46 baby monitor. Web configuration stripped

Basically what I concluded is that adding the web interface files back in only worked with the first firmware they released without the web interface (2.460.0000.3.R.20170628). They did not have a sign.img with that version which would let you load the web interface files from the prior version...

    Dahua PAL to NTSC switch

Yep - I'm not aware of a JTAG interface but there may very well be pins on the boards for a master/slave JTAG connection but I have not looked for that. That being said nearly all Dahua devices do have either a low level (cameras) or high level (NVR/DVR) serial interface. When connected, as long...

    Lorex

Good to see it works. There is a different model number. The prior ones from Lorex are the NR9163 and the new one you posted you indicated NV9163. So they did make some sort of change. I have the prior version. I wonder what else might be different.

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

Excellent and glad to hear you got it working. When the update.img (run up) method does not work then yes, you must then use the individual files. I think maybe update.img method might only work if a device has more functionality still working. I just extracted update.img for another device and...

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

Did you check that it is on another IP address after it is powered on for a few minutes? It may very well not be on 192.168.1.108. I know that is the default it initializes as when first booting for the flashing processes but after that step the main operating software takes over which will...
