So, to add two 3.5 drives what exactly do you need for the install? Just a sata cable for each drive and screws? I was thinking that the cables would already in place.
Thanks,
Robert
Wow, I'd like to find something sweet like that.... are you going to purchase that one? I'll take a look at my local FB market--good idea. I have a craigslist alert setup but I never see ANY EliteDesk computers for sale--ever,
Thanks,
Robert
Can I have two 3.5” HDDs in the SSF EliteDesk? Assuming G2/G3 or newer, can I have the ssd and 2 3.5” drives installed?
Would it require extra wiring or brackets? If so are those parts available?
Thanks,
Robert
Thanks.... BTW: I thought that the i7 generally had more computational power and hyper-threading and cache size than the i5 in the same processor generation family. Coming from the Mac world many of the previous i5 systems seem to be dual core and the only way to get quad core was to have an i7...
@fenderman I happened to notice that you were suggesting to CaliGirl to get an i7 if she was going to be regularly remoting in via Mac and some mention of more RAM up to 16gig. I'm assuming that the i5 suggestion is because it works well for most of us with just 8GB of memory and that it's more...
I assume that you would no longer purchase the older i5-4590 (in a G1) and would shoot for the i5-6500 for about $85 more and that would be the sweet spot.
Also, when you buy these older computers I'm assuming that you almost always have to add your own SSD and HDD media drive. Do you ever...
@fenderman you mentioned before that some of the older SFF EliteDesk units did not have two open 3.5" bays it looks like the G2 has two-bays on the SFF. Perhaps the G1 has only one? Do you still prefer the tower size over the SFF?
HP EliteDesk 800 G2 and HP EliteOne 800 G2 Business Desktop...
Many of the recommended business class PCs suggested for BI have DisplayPort video output and no hdmi port. I’m told that this can be adapted and I see that passive cables are available as well (DisplayPort to hdmi). If you’re buying a new PC the third port can be configured as hdmi (instead of...
I’m sure you know this already but I was surprised to see that building my own PC from the pcpartpicker.com web site I can quickly get to more than $1,000 and a new HP G4 EliteDesk is about the same price and that comes build to order with a fresh 3 year warranty! I’m surprised how competitive...
Some of the EliteDesk units on eBay don’t come with an OS or it’s outdated like win7. I’d like to avoid having to purchase Win 10 Pro. Please advise what to consider regarding the OS. Is the EliteDesk entitled to a version of Windows?
Thanks,
Robert
Hi Fenderman thanks for the reply, I spoke with HP today and they said that the SFF has two m.2 drive slots and one 2.5 slot for a regular SATA ssd and 2 empty 3.5” slots. Do you typically fit all of your BI media on a single HDD?
Thanks,
Robert
