    Looks pretty straightforward. So it's always recording full resolution but down sizes alerts and associated files via substreams. Watching recordings of multiple cams uses substreams and if jumping to one cam get the full resolution from stream 1? Somewhat close?

    I haven't touched BI in years so I have forgotten everything. I used to add IP addressed to restrict access via the BI firewall. If I add anything in there now it blocks me from remote access too. No matter what.

    When I used BI years ago I set up open VPN and used the openvpn app to have remote access to BI remotely from my home network. For some reason I can access Blue Iris from my android phone without openvpn Installed and my wifi off. What am I missing here?

    I won't have enough to do that. Getting it from the soffit into attic space is the only challenge. Pulling a new piece using the original should be pretty straightforward if need be.

    A good 4k nv camera may be easiest or is color the way to go? No lights all night is nice. Not saying open for business.
