Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

Does the DB11 come in silver/black only or are there any color options for the casing?

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

Thanks for this, much appreciated. Still holding out for a good doorbell but will have to buy soon. I definitely need a regular chime. Does wireless above mean the chime is matched to the supplier's doorbell product or would a universal wireless chime work? Ideally I need a chime near the door...

Blue Iris Android App - BI Version 5

What is the current version of the Blue Iris Android app please? I see it on Play and Amazon (at a lower price) and want to be sure its current.

Blue Iris Android App - BI Version 5

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Also read that there is a family share option so only need to pay one fee.

    Unable to reach Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

I found the problem. Removed the drop cable from the port on the GS308P to check and re-seat it. I found a small piece of insulation debris from the loft space on the connector. Likely the debris was stopping the conductors from making a good connection. I can now access the camera! Thanks for...

    Unable to reach Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Rebooted but no different. I have a drop cable from the Netgear to the router which I can easily plug into the BI PC rather than the router. But then I'll probably need to use the other drop cable (I just installed for diagnosis) to remote in to the BI PC? The camera IP is outside the DHCP range.

    Unable to reach Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

OK, I've dropped a LAN cable from the Netgear router in the loft and hooked up my laptop. I can now see the camera on 192.168.0.x However, I cannot see the same camera on another PC connected to the router. This will be a problem because my BI PC is adjacent the router. There is a drop cable...

    Unable to reach Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Not sure about the standard but the cables are Belkin. 15m. Edit. Yep, they are 568. Cat 6.

    Unable to reach Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Thanks. Router is 192.168.0.1. PC was on the same subnet with a 192.168.0.x (DHCP address). I thought I changed the camera default (192.168.1.108) to a 192.168.0.x address but it does not show (nor can I ping it). Thinking that the camera might have defaulted back to 192.168.1.108 I set the PC...

    Unable to reach Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

I had this camera set up on the bench and it's operating just fine. If I recall correctly I used the config tool to change the IP to the 192.168.0.x subnet I'm using. Installed to a building with a cable run to the loft space where there is a Netgear GS308P hub providing a POE port. Both LED's...

Recommendations for a good Doorbell (POE/IP65)

It seems there is not an all round product that meets a wide range of needs, such as intercom, ability to support an LCD, chime, and integration with a home automation system, without need for a special transformer, etc., and all at a reasonable price. I have the Dahua but held off on fitting it...

POE Dahua NVR will be expedient compared to BI?

That is what I'm expecting and why I went this way around :-)

POE Dahua NVR will be expedient compared to BI?

None. I went with BI albeit at slightly higher cost. If I decide in future to use an NVR I can reuse the PC.

    Camera facing sun during sunset

I need to position a camera facing SW meaning it will be exposed to direct sun for a period during sunset. The camera position covers most of the property frontage and so there is not an alternative location. What I can do is play with the angles a little to minimize the glare at sundown (which...

    Intel 4600 or 530 chipsets

Drill bit size to bore hole for Cat-6 ethernet cable through stucco wall

I always pass cable through walls using plastic electrical conduit, usually 22mm. That way if I ever had to recable I can pass a RJ45 terminated cable through if necessary as well as pass additional cables such as alarm wires. I then use a small junction box to fix over the hole and whatever...

    View through a window

Thanks, the turret will be a little bulky to put up against against the window. Otherwise a good suggestion. I’ll read up on the cube and figure out if it will work as I can also repurpose that too.

It will be hidden to some extent behind a Venetian blind. It does not have to be very pretty but compact. Chances are it would be in service longer than I would like or hope for but...

    View through a window

Not ideal I know but I'm looking for a temporary camera that can capture a view through a double-glazed panel looking out onto a driveway. It's something of a blind spot from the property frontage and I will find a more permanent solution eventually. Likely it will need to be a WiFi device on...

PC hardware for Blue Iris with two drive bays

What I need as outlined above is 1x2.5 SSD, 1x3.5 HHD, and the optical drive. I can do without the latter if pushed. That means 2 or 3 SATA ports. I don't need 4 drives.

    DAHUA VTO2111D-WP SMART DOORBELL

Thanks, I missed the search. This looks OK, with the possibility to communicate via phone, send a live stream to, e.g. BI, and monitor motion. One other product I found (available in a choice of colours) is: HikVision DS-KB6003-WIP WiFi Video Doorbell. I did a search and found a thread...

PC hardware for Blue Iris with two drive bays

It looks like some Optiplex and Elitedesk products will take only 2.5" drive bays. I need a PC that can take a 2.5" SSD, a 3.5" WD Purple, and (preferably) a CD/DVD drive. Online info is somewhat patchy. Can anyone confirm which models will do this?

    Facial recognition (or presence sensor)

Is there a way to implement facial recognition via a camera (preferably Dahua) to identify persons arriving to the premises? I could do this in combination with a z-wave presence sensor (e.g. key fob) but using this method it seems that the exact location can be established (e.g. front door...

    Camera recommendation for side entry/passage

OK, thanks. So I can use the ZE with regular POE making it an option from the two cameras you mentioned (I have the IPC-HDW5231R-Z already). Are there or are there not focus issues with the ZE?
