    Xprotect 2017 R1

Depends on the VMS. Sort of wish Milestone would follow Geovision's lead in that area. GV started using Nvidia GPU's a while back to help with processing for their fisheye cams a couple years back. I would imagine as more people start using 4k TV's for monitoring, they might start bottlenecking...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

For controlling the Zoom on this camera, Milestone uses the device detected for Hardware Type as an Onvif Conformant Device in networking and as General IP Camera for Device Driver with Xprotect Essential version 2016 R3. Zoom works great on it this way. You just need to make sure to change PTZ...

ipc-hfw1320s-w-5631 - Can IR lights be turned off?

Can someone who owns this camera confirm if the internal IR lights can be turned off? thanks IPC-HFW1320S-W | Dahua Technology

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I was planning to use it like a yo-yo or a flail but couldn't decide which (it would be easy to add the spikes on it but I better not do that). :) Basically I have just 3 presets set up, 1X, 4X, and home. I haven't set any IVS rules yet. I also haven't checked on things like how much...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Of course, because it's fun. :) But, as an example, you could have it zoom from X1 to X4.4 throughout the day, or when people walk by or something. Or it could be set to show X1 for 10 minutes, then switch to X4.4 for 10 and then back, or something crazy like that.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Based on that do you think they could be added to preset schedules similar to regular PTZ cameras? (set to cycle through different presets all day long just like many people set up their regular ptz cams to do).

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I am wondering this exact same question. I can control the zoom feature on the 5231 using Milestone Xprotect and I was wondering if these zoom cameras are designed to be used similarly to a regular PTZ whereby you can zoom in and out quite frequently, or if the zoom on the 5231 is designed to be...

    Xprotect 2017 R1

According to this it looks like they are adding some hardware accelerated video motion detection. Does this mean they will be supporting Nvidia GPU's instead of only Intel HD onboard graphics...

    QCN8035Z Sensor

Anyone know which low light sensor this camera uses? It's a Dahua but I don't recall the Dahua model #. Curious if it's a starlight sensor or not.

Milestone Essential will be free for up to 8 cams..no recording limit...

I still have a copy of BI lying around but I prefer Xprotect over BI. I may just use it for the extra camera though. Or I might just use one of the camera's built in software but it would be nice and streamlined to run them all on the same solution. I've found that Xprotect really saves CPU...

Milestone Essential will be free for up to 8 cams..no recording limit...

I think I have run into this exact problem with Milestone Xprotect Essentials. I am currently running Essentials R3 and using all 8 free camera licenses. I now want to add 1 more camera to have 9 total. With Essentials, my only option appears to be to purchase an 8 channel license pack at...

    Dahua 2MP Starlight Lineup

Man these IMX sensors are all over the board in terms of which one is the best. I wish they would have labeled them in a way that makes a little more sense. For example, if you want one of the best GPU's, you could know that all you really need is almost any GTX1080. With the IMX chips, they...

    Dahua 2MP Starlight Lineup

How do the 1/1.9" Starlights compare in terms of light sensitivity? Curious if they are pretty close or not to the newer 1/2.8" versions. For example, this one is the older style: wholesale DAHUA IPC-HF8281E - DAHUA IPC-HF8281E 2MP Starlight Ultra-smart Network Camera IPC-HF8281E review Is...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

What caused this to happen? Did Dahua just not make enough of them? If so, let's get Dahua on the phone and have them crank some more out. We should notify John from IPVM. Have him do a story on the issue since we know Dahua reads his site often and sometimes responds to the articles.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

How long will it be until this camera can be purchased from Amazon? Curious how that process works. For example, does a new Dahua have to be a year old or something before Amazon gets them? I know many times it's just a matter of a single person selling them through Amazon sometimes but I...

    DH-IPC-HFW4800EN (4K 1/2.3" bullet)

That does seem rather weak indeed. How can it be determined if this other Dahua 4K camera will look any better, the same, or worse than this one? Lux ratings don't seem to be helping anymore. Do the sensors need to be compared using other lighting specs? For example, the hf81200e lists a .001...

    Just Ordered A Longse LBW90S500

ID may be too strong of a word in this case. Provide several more details of the perps might be a more accurate description of what I am thinking of.

    Just Ordered A Longse LBW90S500

Yep. That's the other low light cam I've been looking at. I just am not quite sure what to think about Ali-Express just yet. I also wish the 322/323 wasn't limited to the lower resolution. I think the way the IMX sensors work is they become more sensitive the higher they go up in numbers, but...

    Just Ordered A Longse LBW90S500

What about something with an IMX274 (4K resolution camera)? Could that make an ID at 60 feet with external IR added? I recently swapped out the Hik with an older Panasonic PTZ but unfortunately, the sensor in the WV-SC385 seems to be worse than the Hik, that's why I'm so interested in the IMX...

Cool. I've been super impressed with what I've seen so far with IMX178 and above. I haven't seen too much with the combo of IMX + additional IR units though (like the IR130 or greater).

    Just Ordered A Longse LBW90S500

The IMX178 sensor is better than the Hiks, that's plain to see. I just recently had a theft in the neighborhood and was asked to provide evidence and unfortunately, the cam I was using was exactly 60 feet from the street the perps walked by. Also unfortunately, my camera visuals (ir...

Up until this distance though. Do we know the exact distance that this frame is from the camera? It starts to break down substantially right here. I don't recall how much external IR is being used in this scene though.

Perhaps it's so big so that it can be used to store a 2 weeks supply of marshmallows and a can of beer inside of it, in case it is used for camping outdoors...in the wilderness...where food may be scarce. Then, when all the marshmallows and beer are gone, the camera doubles as a portable urinal...
