    Mobile App Performance Issues

If I had a jail broken IOS device I would try something like this to get an accurate fps count for Xprotect mobile client so we could have some data to show. But on IOS it would be a long shot due to the issues with this particular counter as it has a very low success rate according to the...

    Mobile App Performance Issues

I only use it on the local network. I've tried with several access points (802.11ac) but get the same results. It just seems to be the way the app is written. It's not as fluid as it could be. I've compared it to Blue Iris which has a much more responsive feel. I've always chalked it up to non...

    Mobile App Performance Issues

I haven't done any extensive testing but I do notice that the Xprotect mobile app is slow as rhino s*** on my old iPhone5 and my brand new 2017 iPad. It's slow I tell you! The word 'choppy' comes to mind quite often when I am viewing my cams with the mobile app.

XProtect Smart Client + GPU acceleration

Milestone Xprotect Smart Client does support Intel GPU acceleration. The problem is that it only supports Intel GPU's and not Nvidia's. Nvidia's GPU's are much more powerful than Intel's. On the Advanced menu, if you select Video Diagnostics Overlay and set it to Level 2 or higher, it will...

XProtect Smart Client + GPU acceleration

Me also. I just installed 2017 R3 and it doesn't seem to support it yet either. Maybe in 2018... I'd say this is probably one of the biggest shortcomings of Xprotect at the moment.

XProtect Smart Client + GPU acceleration

I think it might work differently when you are using Xprotect Essential+ and want to add 1 or 2 cams. Essential+ is free but I see no way online to just add the 9th or 10th cam only to Essential+ online. Guess I'll have to check with vendors again, it has been quite a while since I have checked.

XProtect Smart Client + GPU acceleration

I don't know that I would agree with that 99.999 percent number due to the number of users I've seen post occasionally regarding sometimes sluggish response when using the Xprotect Smart client. (especially on systems without Quick Sync). I wouldn't feel better if they didn't offer a free...

XProtect Smart Client + GPU acceleration

The more I use Milestone Xprotect, the more I start to hate it. I don't understand why they can't just do Nvidia GPU decoding like other vendors do. Dahua NK8BA4 STARVIS 4K Camera

The NK8BA4 seems like it has lower lux for BW. I keep hoping these 4k cameras will get decent low light eventually. Dunno if it will ever happen though.

XProtect Smart Client + GPU acceleration

Geovision used to do this very good. I haven't had much luck doing this with the free Milestone Essentials yet however. I thought I saw one license item that mentioned this feature may be only available in the more expensive version but I don't know if that is true yet without trying to track...

    Dahua NK8BA4 STARVIS 4K Camera

NK8BA4 Does this 12MP / 4K camera compare to the 5231 models as far as low light is concerned? Curious what the sensor is for this one. It lists .001 lux on the site but I understand those are not always accurate.

Battery Powered WiFi Outdoor Camera without Cloud Service

This seems like a small gap in the market. Why can't the camera just send the buffered data to the base station's usb drive? Many of them have usb slots that allow for a regular USB hard drive to be hooked up to it and they put the backup copy on that USB drive. Why not just have a simple...

Battery Powered WiFi Outdoor Camera without Cloud Service

I'm noticing that most outdoor battery powered wifi cameras seem to require cloud services. (Arlo Pro, Hikvision Mini Trooper, etc.) I'm not seeing many that don't require it. I don't think they should have that requirement. Anyone have any good experiences with ones that don't have a cloud...

    Essential 2017 R1 and Dahua Substream 2

I'm not certain but you might want to upgrade to Essential+ 2017 R2 which came out a couple weeks ago. Also the latest IP camera pack came out last week or so as well. Some of the things the packs can add are additional streams for cameras depending on which camera drivers get upgraded.

Hikvision Ezviz Mini Trooper Totally Wireless Camera Tested Has anyone tried one of these yet? I had purchased an Arlo Pro to test but I read that it can't do local storage only without uploading to the cloud (super lame). From the doc it sounds like the Mini Trooper can record locally only...

I had used Geovision for over 10 years until I couldn't put up with the never ending dongle license requirements and horrible Geo software any longer. 4k starlights

Wasn't trolling, just commenting on my dissatisfaction with the industry as far as high MP low light sensors are concerned, especially 4k low lights which seem to still be outrageously priced, which is why we are all settling for the 5231Z. Basically, we all know Nvidia and AMD fight head to...

    4k starlights

I know they don't. And that is the exact problem. If Nvidia was going against Sony for low light, they would blow them away. But I doubt Nvidia will ever enter that arena. In the meantime Sony can take their own time because they don't have any decent competition. I know Starvis is Sony's best...

    4k starlights

The surveillance industry needs to hire somebody from Nvidia to bring them to the present. This is ridiculous. We should have decent 4k night time sensors by now at a decent price. Xprotect 2017 R1

Like most things mileage may vary. I have 8 cams with a couple of them 4k and the rest are 1080p and when I view all 8 cams on a 4k set with most of the cams live viewing close to 30fps, my CPU is at 50 to 60% cpu when all cams are displayed. I can do tweaks here and there to bring the CPU down...

    Milestone cs blueiris

BI has been notorious for high CPU usage. Milestone can help with that and playback on Milestone kills BI, especially when your doing 8 cams of playback simultaneously. PTZ controls are a bit more refined with Milestone as well. Also depends on the number of cameras you have in mind.
