That's true! Although this doesn't tell the whole story, depends on the model.
HFW5442T-ASE has 4 leds and HDW5442TM-AS only 2, but they both have the same spec'd illumination distance of 50m.
HFW5442E-Z4E has only 3 leds and the specs say it has 120m illumination distance.
The cons for both in my experience, where each con is a pro for the other variant:
Bullets tend to attract more bugs/spiders
Bullets are bulkier, so will be more visible on ones house
Turrets aren't able to have as much zoom
Turrets have less IR range
Try it with Internet Explorer (or Edge with Internet Explorer mode for that matter).
The different layout options will then be at the bottom of the Live View screen.
This is on a NVR5832-4KS2:

Edge with Internet Explorer mode:
Hi guys,
Does anyone else here have the problem with the latest update (14 March) of the DMSS Android app (by Hangzhou CE-soft Technology Co., Ltd.),
where when you want to remote view using mobile data it crashes after a few seconds?
Anyone know how to resolve?
On (any) wifi network it works...
The only cams that tick your boxes are these:
Integrated Off-grid Security
They are 4G and battery powered, but also very expensive, don't have the good sensor/MP ratios and for the HFW2431 with built in battery and solar panel, I don't think it'll be able to record 24/7 on that battery.
I'd...
No that one doesn't exist. It doesn't look like a 4K-T 3.6mm either, so I assume its a spelling mistake with the X/T. Only @EMPIRETECANDY would know ;)
I don't see how you came up with the green rectangle for the 4K-X 6mm.
Right side seems about right but to the left you almost cut the entire FOV off, I think it should be more like this:
Which is indeed a bit different, but not equal to 10mm on the 5442T-ZE.
I see what you mean, the numbers of the 5442T-ZE are indeed off.
BUT, when comparing different sensor sizes, the focal length doesn't say anything.
To calculate the width of the scene, you need: sensor width, focal length and distance to the scene.
The sensor width differs and sadly Dahua...
The tool doesn't give you a FOV, it gives a focal length. You can take the focal length, width of the sensor and distance to the place you want to watch and calculate the field of view yourself.
First probleem has most probably indeed to do with your browser, use Internet Explorer, Pale Moon or Chrome/Edge with IE tab.
Second problem sounds more like a problem between the camera and NVR. What cable do you use? Copper or CCA? Its length? Have you tested both the terminations? Could you...
What browser are you using to log in?
I found when using Firefox or Chrome the backup option isn't available.
Try again using Internet Explorer, Pale Moon or Edge with IE tab.
I coincidentally have the exact same codec settings in my own cams. VLC initially had problems playing downloaded footage from the SD card but I had to change the demuxer in VLC to H265 to be able to play the .dav file.
I have zero problems playing back from the SD card in SmartPSS version...
What about a pinhole camera: IPC-HUM4231
Only downside is that it isn't POE, so you'd need to supply 12V from somewhere.
Case itself is only 1.22" x 1.22" (31 x 31 mm)
Yes that won't be possible with one cam. The processing power is not enough to do both at a time, I assume. The closeup image is not anything more enhanced than you'd get viewing the IVS detection, only cropped at a moment when the face is detected.
Ok, I haven't used the Color-4K-T so that'll...
Are you able to view the footage from within the browser via the 'Playback' tab?
If not: check Setting -> Storage -> Schedule and Destination, whether its recording all the time and if Local is checked.
There have been problems with SmartPSS and SD cards before: Playback from cams microSD cards...
You can set a region in which the faces should be detected. Don't think it can be done based on IVS trips.
If you're concerned about security risks of installing unknown plugins (which isn't a bad thing to do), you could change the settings from within a sandbox VM which has only access to the...
Do you have P2P enabled in the cam and is it showing as 'Online'? If not, check if the default gateway is correct with your router.
P2P is not recommended as there are security risks. Its better to create a VPN to your home network, see here: VPN Primer for Noobs
If you log into the NVR go to Configuration -> Network -> TCP/IP. There you will see a checkbox at the bottom called Virtual Host (at least in the NVR5832-4KS2). If you uncheck it, the cams connection will stop in the NVR.
You will still have remote access to the NVR via cell phone, allthough it...
A little late, but hopefully useful:
The NVR5432-4KS2 has dual RJ45's at the back, so you can use one (LAN2) to connect the (unmanaged) switch to which all the other POE switches are connected and use the other RJ45 (LAN1) to connect to your own local network. This will isolate the cams at the...
(Might be off topic, wanted to address this)
This feature is available with SmartPSS by clicking the SYNC button next to the play/pause buttons and also when attaching a monitor to the NVR and playing back from there.
Stranded is mostly used in patch cables and solid is used for permanent installations. Stranded allows for more bends and is indeed more flexible but if you barely move the cable I'm sure solid will do fine.
What I'd personally recommend in your case:
NVR4108-8P-4KS2 with a 1TB WD Purple or Seagate Skyhawk
IPC-HDW2431T-AS (times the amount you need)
Would set you back about $200 for the NVR + HDD and $80 for each cam.
Or if you only need a few days of footage with just one or two cams per site: a...
37777 TCP and 37778 UDP, but you then need to add the NVR with the public IP address in the app which is not recommended. This will expose your entire device to the internet.
A better idea would be to create a simple OpenVPN server on your router (a lot of routers have this functionality build...
