Sounds like the 4MP from milkisbad are from LTS, which should be rebranded Hikvision ones. I guess their batch is using v5.3.1 and not the new v5.3.3. -

From the serial #, it's an OEM one. I bought it from Aliexpress seller that had a hard time getting them in but managed to ship it to me. The serial # is all digits with CAN at the end of it and comes in a white box that looks retail. I'm having issues with it having the white flashing right... -

Really? The specs say it can go up to 5MP. The 7104 says it does 5MP? http://overseas.hikvision.com/us/Products_accessries_10656_i8687.html It was bought from Nelly's but it should work with 4MP? Unless it's really picky about either being 1MP/3MP/5MP and 4MP doesn't count? -

I thought H264+ was used for better compression to save on space but still maintain the image quality? -

I hope they can provide it to me. I didn't know that the 2042's were going to have so many problems when I got them. (white flashes, doesn't work with 7104 nvr from hikvision). -

Thanks, I'm going to download the v5.3.3 and then try to downgrade to v5.3.1. If I get the FW from the overseas Hikvision site, will my camera turn back to Chinese then? I'm assuming they hacked the camera to English when I bought it. -

What FW version are you using and are they the Chinese Hikvision models with the english firmware? I got my straight from Aliexpress, so they sent me v5.3.3 with English on it. Has anyone tried this on v5.3.3? I got a DS-2CD2042WD-I camera with v5.3.3 from factory (chinese version) and have the white flashing issues. One person in that thread said that v5.3.1 doesn't have issues but I don't want to brick my camera. I just want to downgrade to something that works. -

The link is for the overseas site, so it might be the china one. The us site doesn't list the 2042 yet for sale. The factory sticker says v5.3.3 on it, so I don't know if i can downgrade to v5.3.1 on it. -

I got 10 of these last week and some of them show this problem, so either it's a manufacture defect or it's some FW issue with it. They seem to flash randomly during the live preview.
