    Dahua Nvr Bricked

Hello majeb, could we ask where you purchased it from please? As this may be useful, as there's Dahua products that are worldwide and also hacked Chinese versions as well.

I need ideas, on where to install a camera at the entrance

So sundown may be interesting. Is the area I marked in front of your decking in shadow most of the day? Also found another good idea, possibly. Oriental style stone lanterns, here's an example. https://m.alibaba.com/product/60294791189/Chinese-Antique-garden-stone-lanterns.html

I need ideas, on where to install a camera at the entrance

And one thing that we've forgot to ask tibimakai is which way is south to your front? As that makes things more interesting, don't want to point a cam towards the sun if you can help it or it will need to be shaded.

I need ideas, on where to install a camera at the entrance

You could try the height test with a ladder and some duct tape inside tibimakai. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to work. It also stops nosy neighbours from discovering your nefarious plan.

I need ideas, on where to install a camera at the entrance

This is why I'm thinking about 4' plus tibimakai, as it seems a better height for capturing faces. And if it's disguised somewhat it should go unnoticed, and a dummy cam or two would possibly even hide it even better.

Best way to run wires outside

With option 3 Jon Snow, you're best using metal conduit tube and if it's Dahua the DH-PFA130-E camera mounts. It'll be pretty dammed safe from tampering then.

I need ideas, on where to install a camera at the entrance

The rough rule round the forums for capturing good facial images is around 6' to 8' tibimakai, but a little lower won't hurt. It'll also help make things easier to work on as well.

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E vs. IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E

Found something interesting rickoo, DH-SDZ2030S-N 2MP 30× varifocal camera. I hope that that's the highest zoom that can be found at the moment.

Are camera's useful anymore for theft?

Floodlights and PA systems are another damm good deterrent, bigger is certainly better with them. Just imagine anyone's reaction to being suddenly assaulted by about 10KW of lights and 2KW of ride of the valkyries whilst trying to be quiet because they're up to no good.

I need ideas, on where to install a camera at the entrance

Hello tibimakai, what about a dummy mailbox or a bird feeding table. Maybe something like that and bury the cable to it, camera could then be mounted at around 4' height allowing for a good angle for faces and allow it to be in the shade as well. And placement could be around where I've...

First Time Building out a System and found this awesome community

Hello rollintoy, look into electrical conduit solutions. It'll make managing cabling much easier, neater and if you use metal conduit it'll be hardened against physical attacks.

Are camera's useful anymore for theft?

Folks are also forgetting that good footage can also be used to analyse the way a person of interest moves including any physical idiosyncrasies that they have, as no two people move the same way and this can be used to identify individuals.

** Uh...Best Buy $120 External 8TB Hard Drives actually have $250 WD Red Drives Inside?!?!

From what I've heard around as well, is that enterprise level drives that are designed for continuous operation are a good choice for storage as well. But, they're ridiculously priced for us common folks who are frugal. But great thread and thanks for the information folks.

Not as sensitive as I hoped

Hello ANTH040, I've heard good things about the 2MP Varifocal IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E turret or bullet cams which have some decent flexibility in uses. I've got the IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE cams, which have decent low light performance and are eyeball or dome style cameras which are better hardened against...

Are camera's useful anymore for theft?

Ahem crw030, you forgot to mention me in that post. bigredfish just gave the final nod on the Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E, as from all reports it's a good cam at a reasonable price range. And more importantly they use them, as nothing beats experience.

You'll then need to work out how to enable the Enhanced Memory Profile in the BIOS myknownself, and of course other tweaks as well to get it stable and optimised. But at least the update should get it to post.

    PFA 137 vs PFA 130e

Razor wire to discourage access and cover it with another cam notta, also I'm sure that there's cheaper LPR capable cams available that'll provide excellent results. Not too sure about this, but it may be an option. https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/32757?us The CMOS seems...

    Dahua cam suddenly unreachable

Hello HelpMe3, it's either a cam or cable issue as aristocrat has already mentioned. Did you terminate your own ethernet cables or use off the shelf ones? And you can either go to the cam with a laptop, POE ethernet switch or injector, a known good cable and test it or bring it inside for a...

Are camera's useful anymore for theft?

Get a compound crossbow or bow instead if you're considering home and personal defence, they make less noise and with practice or experience of course can be non lethal (crippling). And how many folks will walk into a Hospital with a Bolt or Arrow injury? It can make things a lot easier to...
