I was able to get this working, but not sure if its the best method:
1. User Account > Change User Account Control Settings > Move slider to "Never Notify"
2. Run 'netplwiz' and uncheck "users must enter a user name ..." box, click OK and set to your iVMS user
3. Right click on the storage...
Looking for some help configuring iVMS-4200 software.
Exactly how can I get it to startup automatically after a system reboot w/ Windows 8.1? Unfortunately, I forgot to reset my stem after a powerless a few days back and I missed some activity I wanted to capture.
Also, I'm running a headless...
Also, can anyone can explain why the active POEs will get more distance? Does the "active" injector actually output >48V to compensate for the voltage loss?
Yup, that is the one I have, but I got the 120W power supply. I have not heard of any distance issues, but I don't plan on having any runs more than 100ft either way.
I use an injector like your ebay link. Of course you need a switch to go with it, but it does that job and lets you pick any switch branch and model, not just POE versions.
I have NUC i5 (windows 8 pro) running IVMs4200 right now with 2 cams. The power usage really is around 7W idle. It goes up a little when its recording, not much. Playback over RDP will jump it to near 20W. I tried blue iris and each cam was using around 30% CPU, so I think you can't expect that...
I have a set of MoCA boxes. These are basically 100mbps over COAX. They work well, and I imaging that for a camera setup they would be fine. With over ~150ft run I was getting 130mbps total TX/RX bandwidth, and 80 or 85mpbs in a single direction. I think for just running some IP cams they would...
Are mounting screws provided in the Hikvision camera kits? I thought they were but I can't find them anymore. What size is good? I'm thinking a 1 1/4" #6 screw.
a lot of interesting comments on this one:
"Who the hell has so freaking many cameras set up outside their home? I kind of want to say this footage is suspect just because it involves multiple cameras. "
"Way to go, kitty! Weird that this family has so many cameras around the house though..."...
You can setup the camera to email you pics from motion alarms. If you want FTP upload, you might need some software like Blue Iris or iVMS running on a server.
Ok, great. That makes sense. I only ask cause the other post assumes your camera already had the 5.1.2 firmware, so I wasn't sure if you could upload the hikvisionusa files to a Chinese cam and get it to work. I'll try upgrading one of my 5.1.0 cameras soon.
I agree the NUC is probably a bad choice if you want to run Blue Iris. Also I don't belive the hardware NVRs have any special decoding logic over a standard PC. My understanding is they rely on the IP cams to perform all of the video compression and motion detection. I'm willing to take a chance...
My guess is the reported bandwidth is what is actually measured with the system in full operation, not just the network. Other considerations are RAM size and speed, CPU speed, interconnection bus speed, hard disk speed, etc ...
