    Installation project, your advice requested!

This a 50 year old farmer wanting to put a camera system in his farm shop/office to monitor his tractor equipment and farm hands....so no, no networking is available whatsoever, except for the office. Please don't assume details about my installation. By the way, the customer is a family friend...

That's the thing...upgrade. Upgrade to what? I mean, 1080p is 1080p regardless of whether or not its IP or Coax. At one time, I'm pretty certain everybody though coax would never support High Definition cameras. But they do. Who's to say that coax one day couldn't support 4k?

Seriously...baluns and using analog cameras? That's a little ridiculous there. While HD-TVI is not IP, it's still High Definition. Amazon? Already tried that route and not a fan of the quality.

    Installation project, your advice requested!

No, I have not. I don't come here often so I'm not familiar with the people here or who to talk to. The Costco system I'm assuming you're referring to is Swann right? I'm not a fan of Swann, too consumer grade for my liking. Swann is what I used when I first set up my house with security...

    Installation project, your advice requested!

A 16 channel DVR with 3 TB is $400 and 10 1080p cameras is $800 = $1,200 which is a reasonably competitive price. I'm not a business, so I don't have access to companies like ADIGlobal where I can buy cameras at almost wholesale price. I have to buy at consumer price. I was able to buy those...

    Installation project, your advice requested!

Again, this does not help me any nor provide any advice to my original request for assistance. Where did I say I had all the answers myself? I obviously came here looking for assistance in checking to see if there was anything I left off my list to buy to complete my installation. Instead, I...

    Installation project, your advice requested!

Buddy, you're pulling hairs and nitpicking my request for feedback. I plainly asked for feedback on my list and if I was missing anything that should've been on the list. I didn't ask for opinions on an IP system.

Way to nitpick my request for feedback haha. No the money is not spent, I'm trying to quote him a price within the budget which is about $2,500 total, and that's including my charge for labor of $500.

    Installation project, your advice requested!

I appreciate your opinion, but that's not the advice I was asking for. The budget is low, about $2,500 and IP cameras are way outside that budget. But also, there's nothing wrong with HD-TVI. While it's not IP, I looks just as good as IP for a fraction of the cost.

    Installation project, your advice requested!

Let me first say that while I have experience messing with security systems that have already been installed and installing systems in my own house, I have zero experience in doing from-the-ground-up installations for other people. So I'm really needing assistance to make sure I've covered all...

    Ds-9008hwi-st

I apologize. I understand that the DS-9008HWI-ST doesn't handle TVI. But does the DS-9008HWI-ST still record in HD, even though it says encoding resolution is WD1? That's the big question. The IT guy is asking for my opinion on the upgrades so I want to give the best recommendation. Would an...

    Ds-9008hwi-st

Had a question about some specs on this DVR. The place where I work is looking to upgrade security systems and the contractor proposed a Hikvison DS-9008HWI-ST system to get away from their current Analog Everfocus system with some 1.3MP 720p IP cameras. I read the specs on the DVR but I'm a...

    Everfocus CMS?

Where I work, we use Everfocus cameras and software, but the CMS software is limited. PowerCon is awful on the graphics card and PowerVideo is better, but only allows a max of 128 cameras simultaneously . Is there any free CMS software out there that works with Everfocus DVRs?

    Caddy ceiling tile brackets removal

Help! I'm trying to move some cameras around a room but the contractor that installed the cameras used some mounting brackets on the drop tile grid that I can't seem to remove. I've attached a picture of it below. All the ones I have found on the internet seem to be some sort of a twist type...

    Hikvision DS-7208HGHI-SH firmware update

That totally did the trick there. I went ahead and left the DVR plugged into the Router and used my Desktop computer to make the changes. As soon as I rebooted the DVR the TFTP kicked into gear. Why didn't the instructions just say that rather than insisting on the "connect the computer to the...

Gave that a shot, unfortunately, I didn't have any luck. I even unplugged the power to the cameras and also swapped the channels and its still doing it.

    Hikvision DS-7208HGHI-SH firmware update

Just bought this Hikvision DVR the other day. I regrettably decided to update the firmware and now my camera feed is jacked up. Before the update, the cameras filled the whole channel (like normal). After the recent update (DS-72xxHGHI&73xxHQHI_TurboHD_DVR_USA_Firmware_v3.1.6_150601) I now have...
