    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

Yes I figure it will reboot when someone presses the "dumb" bell button. I was wondering if the "light" in the door bell button may be contributing to the extra current draw, and overwhelming the power kit, causing the buzz. Seems far fetched since some are using 2 DB1C on the same circuit, but...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

Well after a few runs of troubleshooting, my doorbell definitely has an issue. With a 10VA transformer it would reboot with IR lights on after 9 minutes, and repeat. Upgraded to 30VA 16V transformer. Now it does not reboot with IR lights on, but it draws too much power, so it overwhelms the...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

This confirms i likely have an issue with mine. Even after a transformer upgrade (Edwards 30VA, using 16V), it can't handle the IR lights. As soon as I turn them on, i get reboots (sometimes less than 9 minutes). Without the IR lights it is rock stable, aside from the occasionnal message saying...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

    Apparently there is a Supco T45 transformer rated at 40VA, does 2.5, 8,12, 16 and 24V.

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

This has got me a little worried, since I have the same cheapo 16V 10VA transformer that is giving me reboots on the DB1C. I thought that 30VA would fix it for sure(just about to order), but now I see stories of people that had to go to 24V 40VA to get stable performance from other products...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

Thanks for the video, the small change in voltage is what you want. The fact it goes down 3V at night for me with IR lights is a red flag... My transformer is right at the electrical panel, one of the only things the electrician did right. Should be less than 15 minutes to swap out even with my...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

Thanks this is confirmation for me. Doorbell goes offline every 20 minutes with IR lights on at nights definitely looking like a power issue. The internet connection is quite solid, doorbell is about 10 feet away, just on the other side of the door. I did get a few messages saying the connection...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

My DB1C seems to go offline quite a bit. More so at night, with IR lights on. I have the worlds cheapest doorbell, with a 16V 10VA transformer, but it is on the recommended list. I measured 21.6 V! at the terminals with standard doorbell button, 20V with the DB1C installed (daytime) and 18.6V at...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

David, Thanks for the very helpful reply. Very good video doorbell 101 thread, hopefully we get something as good for the DB1C. I will be downloading batch config today. Looking forward to finding an alternative to the EZVIZ software, truth is I don't trust it.

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

Thanks David, I saved a copy of Nov 17 firmware (201106). This is my first camera (wifi no less) so the firmware upgrade/preservation process is still unknown to me. I would like to preserve the 200509 build currently running on the camera as it seems to have the lower sensitivity that a lot of...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

Finally found some compatible screws in my "bag of computer screws". I have it installed with the side wedge, which also helps tuck the wire nuts by providing more depth. One thing that is odd is I wish mine had HIGHER sensitivity. It triggers both in human detection and motion detection around...

    Review: EZVIZ DB1C

Just tried to install mine today. Not off to a good start. All the security screws/small screws were missing in my package. That includes the top torx screw and the wire connector screws. Does anybody know the size and thread for the wire connection screws? EZVIZ support so far has told me to...

4MP Budget Cam Black Friday Giveaway

Great concept! Front door/porch install for the PTZ, and laneway for the turret.

    Dell optiplex 9020

Not to mention you will save about 60w continuous if you pull that radeon. I have the same optiplex (basically identical), and my power usage with the Radeon card in was much higher than reported for people using the onboard graphics.

I7 laptop for BI, sufficient for (8) 4Mp cameras?

So you re saying that it consumes more than the TDP rating of 66w? Once it becomes free for use I'll pull the card and check again. The only other thing I have in there is a sata and ssd drive. IIRC these don't amount to much. I'll even pull the DVD drive if i have to :)

I7 laptop for BI, sufficient for (8) 4Mp cameras?

Well I placed the Optiplex on the killawatt, no screen, 170 watts. Now there is a 66w Radeon 8570 gpu on there, but still at exactly 27% cpu utilization, that's still 100+ watts. A bit more than I want to consume on a continuous basis.

I7 laptop for BI, sufficient for (8) 4Mp cameras?

Ok thanks. My wife is running an Optiplex 9020 i7-4770 SFF right now, I can plug it in the power meter and see what it really draws. Once I drill out the side panel to help the cooling, maybe she gets an upgrade ☺.

I7 laptop for BI, sufficient for (8) 4Mp cameras?

Is there an accepted rule, like a "passmark/camera" ratio, that you should strive for? I am considering used i7 laptops to run BI, and would like to know if they have enough crunching power. I understand they are more expensive than equivalent refurb desktops, but I find the low power...

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

I am assuming you mean spread your yard coverage between the 2 switches, so if one goes down you don't have too many blind spots? To be fair I am not worried about redundancy too much, I will likely be the only one on my street with any video cameras. Along with the video surveillance sign, all...

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

I like how that is a restricted firearm in the US. Restricted to people who have 12k to spare. Overkill, unless the Chinese are attacking in an armoured car :) PS thanks for the links. Had trouble finding an ePOE switch with more than 4 ports. Does Dahua make a 16 port? Technically I only need...

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

Well if you get paid for the electricty you produce AND get to do whatever you want with it, then maybe the Powerwall would be a good deal. That's a double dip, I'm afraid that currently getting paid for the electricity you feed back in is not an option in Ontario, let alone getting paid and...

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

Powerwall still has a terrible return on investment with no incentives. Only makes sense if you are forced to go off-grid. If you are connected to the grid unless you REALLY need/want the outage convenience you are much better off with net metering. Garage is solar ready, but the pay for solar...

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

30w does not sound bad. If I can keep the whole thing (with poe switches) around 60w continuous I'll be happy. I guess I could steal my wife's Optiplex 9020 and build her a new rig (she actually uses the computer, and sometimes it overheats anyway). What are the "real" minimum specs to run blue...

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

Connected to the grid. I'm just energy conscious (some less charitable people would call it cheap). To be fair electricity in our parts is outrageous. And this is going to be a 24/7 continuous load.

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

Thanks all, 2624ft is a LONG pull. What are the thoughts on NVR vs homebuilt? Ilike the fact I can get the POE integrated in the NVR, but I don't know if you can you get 48v or long range in an NVR? Also not sure if i will ever need 8 channels, let alone 16. But I am sure these words have been...

New system recommendation with some weird parameters

Hello, I will be moving to a new property soon and would like to have it under surveillance before the official move in date. Here are the specifics: -Property is delimited by a 90' cliff on 2 sides, and access to the house is basically only down a 650' driveway. -I don't like buying cheap...
