    WiFi Signal Path Identification

So while this is not the answer to the question you asked, I think it will help you end up with a reliable connection for your cams. Most folks here will tell you to avoid wifi for ip cams at all costs. Run a wire or if you cannot, hire someone to run it for you. That will be the best method...

Best starlight cam for the price

Bandwidth will be a function of bit rate regardless of fps. But lower fps will allow higher res capture at a given bit rate, more or less.

Best starlight cam for the price

Congrats, but don't get to enamored with the "4K" and "MP" BS. The 2MP 5231 and variants are pretty hard to beat. And impossible to beat in low light, period. All the rest of that shit is marketing. But I have to admit that 1831 looks awesome! BTW I run mine at 7 FPS which is fine. Another...

Best starlight cam for the price

I haven't seen any difference in mounting bullets vs turrets as @fenderman said. The only thing is turrets have less of a problem with spider webs. But the 1831 actually has an adjustable shield and I chose to pull it all the way back. Not seeing any problems as a result and no webs so far...

Best starlight cam for the price

I just bought the IPC-HFW1831E from Andy for $135 and am stunned by this cam even in low light. I have a couple 5231s and this camera holds up pretty good to them. Seems to eat up more cpu cycles on the BI machine I guess due to being 8MP. There are a couple excellent reviews of it on here. I am...

    Coyote

That is a well fed coyote. I see them every night where I am and they are mostly thin and sadly some mangy. The mange is of concern as it is easily passed to dogs and my rescue Pit hates coyotes and chases them. But that dude looks like a pet. Nice capture.

    Rescue Dog protects my daughter.

I used to believe all the bad rap against Pits and could't understand why anyone would have one other than to look tough. I live in a fairly rural setting and unfortunately people dump dogs here. My neighbor found a pit that just walked onto her property and I ended up adopting him 3 years ago...

    Dahua IPC-HFW1831E (2018 low light 4K) vs IPC-HDW4421C (Chinese 4MP)

Really nice upgrade @bp2008 . Now that I see 6mm is available, going to have to get one! You guys cost me money!

Blue Iris Live and Playback is Choppy or skipping

I think we have seen BI has nothing to do with this so don't worry about that setting. Use VLC for testing. 3770 cpu has quicksync support so pull the video card and use MB video connectors for monitor. Would be an interesting test as @TonyR suggested. Clever! The AC lines in the attic are not...

Blue Iris Live and Playback is Choppy or skipping

Well I don't know anything about your camera model but, you could bring it to the PC and power it in some other manner. Eliminate the switch. See what you get.Connect directly to the PC with some other power method.

Blue Iris Live and Playback is Choppy or skipping

So I am confused. The second drawing you submitted shows the PC plugged into the switch. Do you have two cables that run through the attic to the garage where the switch is? Did you ever simply move the cable from the router that runs through the attic, and plug it into the PC? We want to...

Blue Iris Live and Playback is Choppy or skipping

So it is not a BI problem if it is the same with VLC. Looks like a low frame rate on the cams. You could use the BI Status window to see what the FPS reported is.

Blue Iris Live and Playback is Choppy or skipping

Read this and implement: Optimizing Blue Iris's CPU Usage | IP Cam Talk Is your PC an I7 2600 or 3770? It can't be both. I believe both, although somewhat older, support Quicksync so you can use Hardware Acceleration. (See Wiki) Get rid of video card to use on board graphics for Quicksync>HA...
