Is there a Blue Iris equivalent for Linux?

In my humble opinion, installing Unraid provides the easiest scaffolding for VM's and dockers. Unraid provides a web-based interface for interacting with the server, including configuring drive storage, users, dockers, VM's, shares, and apps. But there's no requirement to configure any storage -...

    Amazon cheating Return

Each time I read this thread about the switched camera it reminds of the late 90's scam where people would buy expensive 3D graphics cards like the Voodoo X series and return the box with a crappy VGA card instead. Visually there was not as much difference as you might think, especially to the...

    Cameras Used for Detection/Early Warning?

Please note: After I typed this I was unable to Post with screenshots inline. Not sure why, never happened before. I've attached files - maybe you can see them. You are probably aware of this, but Blue Iris includes a large number of audio files such as alarms and sirens that can be played...

Best way to plug 5/8 inch holes from pre-terminated cat5 cable runs?

:thumb: Thumbs up to these great mounts. Very aesthetic, professional looking, easy to mount, and large enough to cover other holes as @JNDATHP mentions.

VTO2111D-P-S2 removing audio visual encryption permanently…

@EMPIRETECANDY might have some insight into the VTO "encryption" issue. (Andy is arguably the forum's primary camera purchasing source, is very knowledgeable about Dahua products and might know where to get an answer at this gritty technical level. He is also a friendly guy and very responsive.)...

VTO2111D-P-S2 removing audio visual encryption permanently…

It seems crazy how that "encryption" setting is persisting somewhere. I don't use a Dahua NVR, and it sounds as though you have tried everything, but is the NVR the spanner in the works? This is not helpful to your situation, but I actually really like my two doorbells (VTO's) and VTH's (poe...

VTO2111D-P-S2 removing audio visual encryption permanently…

Yikes! That would suck Have you taken the drastic step of reflashing/updating the firmware? Lastly, this might be a crappy solution, but those VTO's are reasonably inexpensive on Ebay (180 AUD) - meaning you could replace it and retain your VTH and installation investment.

How to change BI profile using HomeAssistant?

After thinking about overnight, I think your method is better and I think your icons present much better information. I often do quick and dirty hacks to remedy something that is bugging me and then procrastinate on a better solution. I'm often a satisficer and not an optimizer.:blankstare:

    Fastest trigger notification?

I have not noticed that it was from another camera, but yes, I have noticed that the image is from one of the Alerts and often not the expected image. I've always assumed that was doing something wrong.

    Fastest trigger notification?

As another data point, I use the send an email to phone as text <phone_number>@<gateway> method: it is something like [email protected] for T-Mobile, for example. Slow though, usually takes 10-15 seconds.

How to change BI profile using HomeAssistant?

Great thread with lots of good information! I often work in my front yard and walk between various front areas and the garage. That triggers motion, potentially, on three 5442's, two doorbells, a T180, and an K42A in the garage. Among the immediate actions I have in Blue Iris for several of...

Florida trailer Park bans, security cameras

Sure does. I mean I've often wondered about these public freakouts you see recorded on cellphones. There is clearly audio being recorded without consent - although It would be hard to argue that someone screaming profanities at the top of their lungs had any expectation of not being overheard...

Verizon LTE Home internet and IP cams

This is a generic description of my Tailscale setup, and might be a straightforward solution for the OP. I have a Netgate 2100 firewall appliance (currently $349 - there is a $189 smaller appliance) that uses pfSense. The appliance has a Tailscale "package" meaning Tailscale gets installed on...

    Onvif 2 MQTT?

Maybe an obvious question, but separately, do you have "Motion sensor" checked: I tested a little more, and now I am not quite sure it is working the way I think it should. I may not be understanding the ONVIF functionality fully or correctly. Seems straightforward...:idk:

    Remote control for electrical circuit?

I had to LOL because I often sketch out electrical circuits that I'm going to be working on. For example, I replace a lot of regular switches with Z-wave switches, and some of the 3-way and 4-way circuits you have for porch or outdoor lighting can get tricky at times. Well, it's always difficult...

Apologies - I did not read your message carefully enough. I see now that you already know the ONVIF event you want In Blue Iris select "Camera Settings..." for the doorbell. Onvif 2 MQTT?

Apologies in advance if this is not helpful. This is a long shot - because I can never remember off the top of my head who the OEM is for Reolink, Amcrest, etc. But if your Reolink Doorbell's OEM is Dahua and if it is similar enough to the Dahua Doorbells (VTO's) then the...

Selling house and need to swap in cheap cams

Apologies for hijacking the thread. Here is a strawman to help @RUMBLESTRIP: Option #1: Leave current cameras. Pros: Easiest. Might be a selling factor? If so, then some of the following Cons: would need to be considered. Cons: Might not be a selling factor - might be opposite as others have...

Selling house and need to swap in cheap cams

It's actually a really interesting point.
