Buying and using a fisheye without IR

Thank you for your help adamg. I'm trying to avoid additionally powering stand-alone IR, so I'll probably wind up looking into one of the more expensive fisheye cameras. It's frustrating that Dahua's fisheye cameras with IR are more than double the price of the EB5531.

Buying and using a fisheye without IR

Hi readers, I've been looking to buy a hemispheric Dahua, such as the IPC-EB5531, to use on my front patio. The problem (at least, I think it's a problem) is that the EB5531 doesn't have IR and the sensor is not a Starlight. I've been looking around online to find reviews or videos of what the...

Help in selecting a new camera...

Zooming the view of the second camera might not be good because anyone standing at your door or leaving anything on or near your door may be out of view of both cameras. I sort of ran into this problem a few weeks back when a delivery driver dropped off a 25lbs bag of lentils on our door mat at...

Help in selecting a new camera...

That haze on your Swann bullet camera is probably glare from the Hik's IR light, but the glare could be from the Swann's own IR reflecting off another object in your yard or the house. You might test it by disabling the IR in the Hik's web interface at night and see if the Swann's picture clears...

    Dahua IPC-HFW4300S Firmware wanted

I'm really starting to hate Dahua over this. I'm about ready to dump my 4300's and go with Hiks because I'm sick of the finger-pointing answers, like "Oh, just contact Dahua, which doesn't support end-consumers" or "contact your incredibly lazy/unresponsive/uninformed vendor." Yeah, you're...

    Dahua Firmware...

ftp://ftp.asm.cz/Dahua/kamerove_systemy/_Firmware/ They rearranged everything on their FTP. Unless I'm mis-remembering, they also ditched all NTSC firmware, so they only host PAL (European) firmware.

Necessity of surveillance-class/WD purple hard drives and usage of SSDs

This is something I'm interested in as well. I have a single 4gb WD purple in an enclosure connected to a Win 10 system for FTP uploads from my Dahuas (Windows sorts the videos for me). I would hope using the drive formatted for NTSF in Windows doesn't negate any benefits the drive might...

Day/Night profiles with sunrise/sunset times changing

I typically base my profiles on my phone's Wunderground app (Weather Underground) that provides First Light/Sunrise/Sunset/Last Light, but fine tune it, adding 15 minutes to the time I think should be perfect. The the amount of day light subtracts every day by about one minute, counting down...

Shining a layzer into a camera?

Please PM me the video. You could set up a bunch of dummy cameras and watch him waste his time. Of course, then you're just wasting your time. Also, even at 15 feet, aiming by hand to hit and hold the laser on a bulls-eye that's smaller than a dime (the lens) would be extremely difficult. Given...

    Dahua IPC-HFW4300S Firmware wanted

Hey, I'm looking for the newest IVS NTSC firmware for my three IPC-HFW4300S's. More specifically, I think I'm looking for DH_(or General_)IPC-HX5(4)XXX_Eng_N_Stream3_IVS_V2.420.0000.11.R.20150907.bin If anyone has it, I will appreciate a link to download it. I bought my Dahua's off Amazon from...

Question about risk with port forwarding

Thank you for the help. When I forward the ports, I'll change the default passwords and create a view-only account. Thank again.

Question about risk with port forwarding

Thank you for the reply. I'm wondering about the risk of intrusion by the ports being discovered. I just don't know how common the threat is of non-commercial networks being port sniffed. I trust my neighbor, so I'm not concerned about him giving out my IP address to random people. I would set...

Question about risk with port forwarding

Hi, I have a number of Dahua cameras that are currently on my local home network. My neighbor would like me to allow him to view my camera's streams, but I hesitate for a couple reasons which I'm hoping someone on here can provide me a more comprehensive and reasonable assessment. My primary...

Front door camera angle and interference, can I get this to work?

Here is a handy image guide I found somewhere on the internet. It helped me figure out the best lens to use, so maybe it will help you. Edit: I tried to find the website for reference, but I had no luck. Sorry about the watermarks. I have no clue where this image came from.

Dahua Motion Detect, teach me something

I use IVS exclusively now, but I don't use an NVR. I have my HFW4300S's to upload to my FTP server. They're all on the 10.R firmware.
